1. The Union Cabinet has approved a minimum support price of at least cost plus 50% for 14 crops ahead of the Kharif (summer) sowing season. The minimum support price of paddy has been increased by Rs 117.
(a) The MSP for paddy for the season has been increased by 5.35%, or Rs 117, to Rs 2,300 per quintal.
(b) The minimum support of cotton has also been increased to 7,121 for the normal variety and 7,521 for another variety, which is Rs 510 higher than the previous MSP.
(c) The MSP for Millets like jowar has been set at Rs 3,371, for ragi it is Rs 4,290, for bajra it is 2,625 and maize is at Rs 2,225.
2. The government has decided to develop Vadhavan port in Maharashtra, and develop the first offshore wind terminal in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The government has also taken decisions for development of Varanasi airport and National Forensic Infrastructure enhancement scheme.
3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir starting today. During his visit, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 84 major developmental projects worth over One Thousand Five Hundred crore rupees in the Union Territory.

9. The Telangana state government is planning to bring Bhumatha portal in the place of Dharani soon. It is making efforts to introduce a Bill in the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly to amend the Telangana RoR Act (Right of Records) to facilitate the introduction of the Bhumatha portal.

1. A Delhi court yesterday extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and another accused Vinod Chauhan till the 3rd of July in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise policy scam.
2. The Centre on Wednesday announced cancellation of the UGC-NET examination following prima facie indications that integrity of exam compromised. To ensure the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be cancelled.
3. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has raised questions over the relocation of statues of major leaders in the Parliament House complex. He demanded that the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and other national leaders must be relocated to their original locations in the complex.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat had already denied the allegations of relocation of statues of great leaders saying that these statues have not been removed from the Parliament House complex. It emphasized that statues are being installed systematically and respectfully inside the Parliament House complex.
4. Over 20 people from Kallakurichi district in the northern part of Tamil Nadu were hospitalised and at least 10 persons died after suspected consumption of illicit ‘packet arrack’, officials said on Wednesday.
Chief Minister M K Stalin has ordered a CB-CID probe to ensure comprehensive investigation and the government transferred Kallakurichi District Collector Sravan Kumar Jatavath and Superintendent of Police Samay Singh Meena was suspended.
5. Temperature In Delhi: More than 20 people lost their lives due to heat strokes and rising temperatures in the National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) on Wednesday. Citing the adverse weather situation, the Center has issued an advisory for the citizens requesting everyone to stay indoors as much as possible. The advisory underlined going out in direct sunlight between 12 noon to 3 pm could be dangerous.

1. The Centre has received another proposal to immediately constitute the Eighth Pay Commission to revise the basic pay, allowances, pension and other benefits of the central government employees and pensioners. In a letter addressed to the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary, National Council (staff side, Joint Consultive Machinery for central government employees), pointed out why the central government should form the 8th Pay Commission on priority.
2. Paytm has named Rajeev Krishnamuralilal Agarwal, former whole-time director of SEBI, as its non-executive independent director for a five-year term.
3. Ajith Kumar KK has been appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Dhanlaxmi Bank for a three-year term starting 20 June, 2024.
4. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, has committed $105 million (approximately Rs 871 crore) to Brookfield’s Bikaner Solar Power project in Rajasthan. This investment will be in the form of non-convertible debentures, supporting the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in India.
5. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revoked the licence of Purvanchal Co-operative Bank, located in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, citing inadequate capital and bleak earning prospects.
6. Nvidia, the startup at the centre of the artificial intelligence boom, has become the world’s most valuable company, knocking Microsoft off the top spot. Nvidia’s market capitalisation hit $3.335 trillion on June 18, as shares of the chipmaker rose by 3.5 percent to $135.58.
7. Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the first round of Pre-Budget consultations with leading economists in New Delhi ahead of the General Budget 2024-25 yesterday.
8. State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest lender on Wednesday announced plans to raise Rs 20,000 crore through long-term bonds in the ongoing financial year 2024-25 via public issue or private placement. The funds would be used for infrastructure projects and affordable housing units.
