2. Chandrayaan-3 shares new video of Moon as it gets ready for touchdown. Chandrayaan-3 entered the moon’s orbit on August 5. Chandrayaan-3 will make its first soft-landing attempt to the Moon’s south pole region on 23 August. At present, the Lander module of Chandrayaan-3, comprising Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, after a successful deboosting, reduced their orbit to 113 km x 157 km.
3. President Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023 yesterday. The two Bills were recently passed by Parliament.
The Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023 amends the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 to exclude online money gaming from the definition of online information and data access or retrieval services.

Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated the Steel bridge at Indira Park, Hyderabad & named it after former Home minister Naini Narsimha Reddy on Saturday. The steel bridge, which is 2.25 km long and consists of four lanes, was built at an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore. The bridge marks the 36th project in the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP).
12. Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao informed that the State government has designed an action plan of extending the Metro Rail connectivity upto 415 kms around the Hyderabad city with an estimated cost of over Rs 69,000 crore and the proposed project will be completed in next three to four years.

KARNATAKA : The removal of the Shivaji statue in Bagalkot in Karnataka has provoked the ire of the Maharashtra government with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Minister for Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar shooting off a letter to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Saturday criticising the action and demanding the statue be re-installed while those responsible for its removal be punished.

1. The Mumbai Airport Customs authorities intercepted eight individuals in separate instances at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and seized 6.19 kgs gold valued over Rs 3.2 crore and three branded watches.
2. Four people were arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Vimal Kumar Yadav in Bihar’s Araria district. The 35-year-old journalist was a witness to the murder of his brother in 2019.
Yadav, who worked for a Hindi daily, was killed at his residence in Premnagar village on Friday @ 5.30 AM.

1. Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT has notified rule for determination of value of perquisite in respect of residential accommodation provided by employer.
The Finance Act, 2023 brought in an amendment for the purposes of calculation of perquisite with regard to the value of rent-free or concessional accommodation provided to an employee, by his employer. Accordingly, CBDT has modified Rule 3 of the Income-tax Rules, 1961 to provide for the same.
2. Government imposed a 40 percent duty on export of onions to control price rise and improve supplies in the domestic market.
3. Union Minister of State for Highways and Civil Aviation V.K. Singh has said that the Government has allocated 2 lakh 40 thousand crores rupees for improving road infrastructure in the country.
4. Reserve Bank of India, RBI, asked banks to provide fixed interest rate options to individual borrowers and directed the lenders to levy only reasonable penalty charges in case of default in EMI payments.
5. Indian solar module maker Jakson Group plans to diversify into power generation, seeking to benefit from the country’s clean energy boom. Jakson, based on the outskirts of New Delhi, plans to have 5 gigawatts of power capacity by 2030.
6. Despite fears of higher global oil prices, India expects to continue purchasing crude from Russia at discounted rates as long as crude hovers below $90 a barrel. India is confident that Russia will not push to breach the $60 per barrel ceiling for Russian crude even as prices go up.
7. BOEING COMMENCES PRODUCTION ON E-MODEL APACHES FOR INDIAN ARMY: AH-64E fuselages are manufactured at Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited facility in Hyderabad. The company will deliver a total of six AH-64E Apaches fulfilling the Indian Army’s requirements.
8. Crisil, a prominent rating agency, anticipates India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth to reach 6% in the fiscal year 2024. This projection is lower than the 7% estimated by the National Statistical Organisation (NSO) for the fiscal year 2023.

1. Indian Navy submarine INS Vagir will arrive in Australia today. The submarine will participate in various naval exercises with Royal Australian Navy units on the West Coast of Australia from 20 Aug.
The submarine inherits its name from INS Vagir (S41) which served in the Navy from 1973–2001, and was named after a species of sandfish. Vagir, the fifth submarine in the Kalvari -class, started its maiden sea trials on 2 February, 2022. The ship was commissioned on 23rd January 2023. It has made its way to Australia, covering a distance of nearly 7,000 km.
2. The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Naval Trainer Prototype ‘NP5’ successfully completed its maiden flight on Friday, announced the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). The inaugural flight took place at the HAL airport.
3. The seventh and last of the stealth frigates being built by Mazagon Dock Ltd (MDL) under Project 17 Alpha will be launched on September 1, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar said.
4. Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has expressed sadness on the tragic road accident in Ladakh in which the nation has lost its valiant soldiers, as their vehicle fell into a gorge. The injured personnel have been rushed to the Field Hospital. Praying for their speedy recovery.
The accident happened at around 5 pm, Leh senior superintendent of police PD Nitya said. The Army vehicle, with 10 personnel on board, was on its way to Nyoma from Leh. The vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge.
5. China launched military exercises of the navy and air force around Taiwan on Saturday. The response comes as a warning after Vice President William Lai’s visit to the United States.
