1. The Opposition Mahagathbandhan in Bihar failed to announce a seat-sharing pact Friday as nominations closed for the first of the two-phase Assembly elections in the state. Partners of the alliance filed nomination papers for all 121 seats going to polls in the first phase – the total strength of the Bihar House is 243.

2. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha splits from Grand INDI Alliance for upcoming Bihar Assembly elections; to contest independently on six seats.

3. Union Minister of State Shri Jitin Prasada inaugurated the Uttarakhand AI Impact Summit 2025 in Dehradun, a pre-summit to the upcoming India–AI Impact Summit 2026. Jointly organized by the Department of IT, Government of Uttarakhand and the IndiaAI Mission, MeitY, the summit focused on responsible and inclusive AI growth.

4. The Central Railway is operating more than 1,700 special trains for various destinations in north India including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh during the festive season. The move aims at ensuring smooth and comfortable travel for devotees and passengers during Diwali and Chhath puja.

8. The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has taken steps to enhance agricultural support and farmer welfare in 2025. The state government decided to procure millets like Kodo and Kutki directly from farmers in key producing districts.

9. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Saturday announced that it will contest the Bihar assembly polls independently, and said the party would ‘review’ its alliance with the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal in Jharkhand after the elections in the neighbouring state.

10. West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday seeking a revocation of the Centre’s “unilateral” appointment of an interlocutor on Darjeeling, Terai and Dooars issues, saying it threatened regional peace.

11. Two simultaneous low-pressure systems are developing over the seas surrounding peninsular India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said, warning of potential intensification over the next 48 hours. According to the latest IMD bulletin, a well-marked low-pressure area persists over the Kumarakom coast and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal.

1. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced that his government is planning to introduce legislation mandating a salary deduction of 10–15% from government employees who fail to care for their parents. The deducted amount would be credited directly to the parents’ bank accounts.

2. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised the Opposition in Bihar for giving Assembly election ticket to Osama Shahab, son of don-turned-politician late Mohammad Shahabuddin who once ruled Siwan during the RJD’s rule of 15 years (1990-2005).

3. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a statement on Friday said that it has arrested an executive director and regional officer of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh, in an alleged bribery case.

4. Trans rights activist Akkai Padmashali has been appointed to a Supreme Court panel on equal opportunity policy for transgender rights, becoming the first transgender person from Karnataka to hold such a position.

5. Telangana has recovered over 1 lakh lost or stolen mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, ranking first in the country.
Since its launch in Telangana in April 2023, the state has successfully traced and unblocked 1,00,020 phones, with the Hyderabad commissionerate leading at 14,965 recovered devices.

6. The government is going to bring a regulation on deepfakes soon that will take help of technology for efficient implementation, Union electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday.

7. Continuing free power to consumers may soon become an uphill task for Punjab as the Centre has devised a stringent three-option privatisation formula aimed at tightening the noose around states failing to clear their electricity subsidy bills.

1. The Indian Army has signed a contract worth ₹130.58 crore with JBM Auto Ltd to procure 113 electric buses and 43 fast chargers. The agreement, signed on October 17, 2025, marks the Army’s first major induction of electric buses.
