The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that there cannot be legal recognition for same-sex marriages, doing so by a 3-2 majority. As many as four judgments were delivered and a slew of observations made by the apex court.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant legal recognition to same-sex marriages in the country in its verdict. In a unanimous decision by the five-judge constitution bench, the bench said that there was no fundamental right to marry.
The top court said it has referred the decision regarding legislation of same-sex marriage to Parliament.
