5. What is the Sixth Schedule Demand of Ladakh?

The Sixth Schedule lists parts of the Indian Constitution that allow tribal places in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram to be managed in a way that protects their rights. One of these rules is the development of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs), which can make laws about things like land, forests, and agriculture. These councils can also set up village courts to settle small disagreements between tribes.

1. India’s foreign exchange reserves saw an increase of $2.56 billion, reaching a total of $644.15 billion for the week ended 10 May, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
2. State Bank of India (SBI) has increased short-term retail fixed deposit rates by 25-75 basis points (bps), marking its first interest rate hike since December. This move, likely to be emulated by other banks, reflects a strategic adjustment to offer better returns for depositors.
For retail domestic term deposits (below Rs 2 crore) maturing between 46 and 179 days, SBI now offers 5.5 percent, up from 4.75 percent, and 6 percent for senior citizens, up from 5.25 percent.
Deposits maturing in the 180-210 days tenor now yield 6 percent, compared to 5.75 percent previously, with seniors receiving 6.25 percent.

1. The Delhi high court has restrained various entities from using actor Jackie Shroff’s name, including sobriquets “Jackie” and “Jaggu Dadda”, voice and images for commercial purposes without permission.
2. A Telugu TV serial actor Chandrakanth allegedly died by suicide at a flat in Hyderabad days after the death of his co-star Pavithra Jayaram in a road accident, police said.
The 39-year-old actor, who was allegedly suffering from depression following Pavithra’s demise, was found hanging in the flat on Friday.
3. A nine-day long Indo-Bangla Baul festival began in Dhaka on Friday to celebrate the 250th birth anniversary of the mystic saint and humanist bard Fakir Lalan Shah. The event is being organised by the cultural and research organisation Lalon Biswasangha working to popularise the work and promote research on Lalan Fakir.
