National Film Awards 2023: Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Allu Arjun receive top honours
The 69th National Film Awards ceremony, honouring the best that Indian cinema had to offer in the year 2021, is being held at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The winners, whose names were announced earlier in September, will be honoured by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The Press Information Bureau live-streamed the ceremony on its social media channels.
The National Awards are running a year behind schedule because of pandemic-related delays. Among the winners are actors Allu Arjun, who won the Best Actor award for the film Pushpa: The Rise, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon, who shared the award for Best Actress for their films, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi respectively. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the award for Best Feature Film. The Kashmir Files won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration at the 69th National Film Awards.
Shoojit Sircar’s historical drama Sardar Udham also won several awards. Apart from being named the Best Hindi Film, it also bagged Best Cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhyay), Best Audiography (Sinoy Joseph), Best Production Design (Dmitrii Malich and Mansi Dhruv Mehta) and Best Costume Design (Veera Kapur Ee) awards.

This two-hour test flight will be conducted between 7 am and 9 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
4. PM Modi is scheduled to virtually open the third edition of Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) 2023, taking place from October 17th to 19th at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Grounds in Mumbai.
5. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the India Skills 2023 competition in New Delhi on Tuesday.
6. Agra’s Taj Carnival to begin on Oct 17 in Agra, the central attraction of this celebration will be a spectacular hot air balloon ride. It will continue till 10 Nov.
7. The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has launched a special cleanliness campaign, ‘Swachch Tyohar, Swasth Tyohar’ (Clean Festival, Healthy Festival), with a focus on maintaining cleanliness in and around temples during Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali festivals.
8. Jharkhand is making history by becoming the first state in India to take steps towards including gig workers, such as Swiggy, Zomato, Ola, Uber, and Rapido employees, under the ambit of minimum wages.
9. Department of Land Resources, DOLR and National Remote Sensing Centre, NRSC signed an MoU for monitoring of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana – Watershed Development Component, WDC 2.O on Tuesday. It aims to restore the ecological balance by harnessing, conserving, and developing degraded natural resources such as soil and water.
10. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a proposal to dismiss the chairperson of Child Welfare Committee-IX following allegations of “negligence” and “misuse of powers”.
11. J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed an event on Disaster Risk Reduction organized by J&K Disaster Management Authority at University of Kashmir in Srinagar on Tuesday.
12. Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has completed another viaduct at Sher Bibi area, a critical section of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, between Ramban and Banihal section. The 224-meter viaduct (two-lane) has been completed with an estimated cost of 12 crore rupees.
13. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are set to visit Telangana as part of their vijayabheri yatra on October 18th in the state.

1. The National Film Awards 2023 was held on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the awards to the winners.
(a) Waheeda Rehman received Dadasaheb Phalke Award
(b) RRR got six awards including Best Film For Wholesome Entertainment. The film’s director SS Rajamouli received the award.
(c) Rocketry: The Nambi Effect actor and director R Madhavan received the National award.
Allu Arjun won the Best Actor award for Pushpa: The Rule.

1. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh announced the cash prizes to Armed Forces personnel for winning medals at the 19th Asian Games on Tuesday. He said that an amount of 25 lakh rupees would be given to the Gold medal winners and Silver medal winners would get rupees 15 lakh. 10 lakh rupees would be awarded to the Bronze medal winners.
