1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan today. The weather agency also forecast dense fog conditions in Assam, Meghalaya and East Rajasthan during the next 2-3 days.

2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu has arrived at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bollarum on the outskirts of Hyderabad yesterday on a five-day Southern Sojourn. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, extended a warm welcome to the President at the Hakimpet Air Force Station on her arrival. The President will be inaugurating, and laying the foundation stone for various initiatives at Rashtrapati Nilayam today.

3. Science and Technology Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh today launched India’s first-of-its-kind anti-pesticide bodysuit, Kisan Kavach in New Delhi. It said that the washable suit offers protection against pesticide-induced toxicity, which often leads to severe health complications, including breathing disorders, and vision loss.

4. Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla held a bilateral meeting with President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan in the Parliament House Complex. Both sides held discussions on various issues of mutual interest.

5. The National Action Plan For Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) is being implemented for reducing consumption of drugs and controlling drug addiction in the country.

6. The 5th All India Conference of Government Railway Police (GRP) Chiefs, coordinated by Railway Protection Force (RPF), successfully concluded in New Delhi.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced while addressing the 45th annual convention of Havildar, Constable and Sepoy that havildars, constables and sepoys working under the state police would get an additional month’s salary. The motorcycle allowance (earlier bi-cycle allowance) will also be increased from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 and increase in uniform allowance (including shoes) to Rs 10,000 from Rs 5,000.

8. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change organized the Eco-Creativity and Innovation Hackathon in New Delhi. The hackathon aims to inspire young minds to tackle local environmental issues creatively through technology and innovation.

9. The bills related to One Nation One Election have been introduced in the Lok Sabha yesterday. Opposition sought division of votes as Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal moved the motion to introduce the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Ninth Amendment) Bill 2024 and The Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024 in the House. 269 members have voted in favour of the introduction of the bill and 198 against it.

10. The government has prepared a six point strategy to increase the income of farmers. Replying in Lok Sabha, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the efforts are yielding results with the farmers income increasing from two thousand 115 rupees per month in 2002-03 to ten thousand 218 rupees per month in 2018-19.

11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 24 projects related to power, road, railway and water worth more than Rs 46,300 crore in Jaipur.

12. Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the GSI Geoscience Museum in Gwalior, housed in the historic Victoria Market Building. The museum serves as a tribute to Earth’s geological wonders and highlights the Geological Survey of India’s contributions to exploring India’s resources.

13. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is facing a hard time as two key members Devendra Yadav and Munajir Hasan, have stepped down from the core committee. The resignations come just months after the party’s formation.

14. The “Viraasat Sari Festival 2024” is an exclusive handloom sari exhibition organized by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi.

15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the passing of renowned environmentalist and Padma Awardee Tulsi Gowda from Karnataka. In a social media post, PM Modi said that she dedicated her life to nurturing nature, planting thousands of saplings, and conserving the environment.

1. Due to rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR, all primary schools in Delhi have been shifted to hybrid mode until further directions. The Directorate of Education under Delhi Government has issued an order in this regard. The schools have been asked to conduct classes for up to 5th standard in online or offline mode, wherever it is possible.

1. The Lok Sabha has approved the Supplementary Demands for Grants-First Batch for 2024-2025. The government sought approval of Parliament to authorise gross additional expenditure of over 87 thousand 762 crore rupees.

2. India has become the 3rd largest exporter of smartphones in the world, which was on the 23rd rank in 2019. The country’s smartphone exports have also breached the 20 thousand crore rupees mark in a single month, in November 2024.

1. Oscars 2025: Final shortlist announced in 10 categories: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 15 films will move forward in several categories, including Animated Short Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, Sound, and Visual Effects.

The voting process to determine the official nominees will begin on 8 January and end on 12 January 2025.

2. ‘Laapataa Ladies’, India’s official entry in the Best International Feature category at the 97th Academy Awards, is out of the Oscars race. The Hindi film, directed by Kiran Rao, is not part of the shortlist of 15 features that will be vying for a spot in the final five, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced.

3. Tom Cruise Receives US Navy’s Highest Civilian Award For ‘Top Gun’ & Other Films: The world’s most famous fictional Top Gun is now a decorated naval hero. Tom Cruise was awarded the U.S. Navy’s top civilian honor on Tuesday for “outstanding contributions to the Navy and the Marine Corps” with “Top Gun” and other films.

1. SLINEX 2024 is set to take place from December 17 to 20 off the coast of Visakhapatnam, organised by the Eastern Naval Command, and involves India and Sri Lanka, aiming to enhance maritime cooperation between the two nations.

2. The President Smt Droupadi Murmu will be presenting the President’s Colours to the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad on Friday.

3. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the Ministry’s Consultative Committee in New Delhi. In the meeting, the roles and functions of the new Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) were discussed.

4. The Steel Cutting ceremony of the first ship of the Next Generation Missile Vessel (NGMV) being built for the Indian Navy was held at the Cochin Shipyard on Monday.

The vessel will be installed with a formidable array of indigenously developed and manufactured weapons and sensors, significantly enhancing the combat capabilities of the Navy as a Future Ready and Combat Ready force.

5. Vietnam Coast Guard Ship, CSB 8005 arrived in Kochi, as part of the efforts to enhance international cooperation between India and Vietnam. The two countries will take part in “Sahyog — Hop Tac” to promote interoperability between the two forces.

6. The Indian Navy is set to commission INS Nirdeshak, a new survey ship, on 18 December 2024, at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.
