The Pune–Solapur passenger train service has been in demand for a restart for quite some time because it was suspended during the COVID-19 lockdowns and had not been resumed fully afterward.
3. Andhrapradesh Chief Minister received appeals and objections on the district-reorganisation exercise done by the previous government and would aim to resolve these and likely set up a few new districts.

1. In Jammu and Kashmir at least seven persons were killed and five others injured in two separate incidents of cloudburst and flash flood in Kathua district. The calamity struck Jodh Ghati village of Rajbagh and Janglote amid heavy overnight rains in the district.
2. A tragic incident occurred at Gokulenagar, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad on Sunday midnight when five people were electrocuted during a Sri Krishnashtami chariot procession. As the vehicle pulling the chariot broke down, youths attempted to move it manually. In the process, the chariot came in contact with overhead live wires, electrocuting nine people. Locals rushed to help, but doctors later confirmed that five had died on the spot.

1. INS Tamal, the latest stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, called at Naples, Italy, from 13-16 Aug 2025 during her return passage to India. The visit underscored the strong bilateral relations between the two nations, which were formally elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2023.
INS Tamal participated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with ITS Trieste, the recently commissioned Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) of the Italian Navy, prior entering harbour at Naples. Joint operations during the PASSEX included communication exercises.
2. IAS Officer posted as SDM Uri, Shubhankar Pratyush, received GOC-in-C Northern Command Commendation Award . Shubhankar is AGMUT cadre IAS Officer of 2022 batch.
3. Two fighter pilots of Indian Air Force (IAF) from Pune were among those recognised with a Mention in Despatches on Independence Day for their brave actions during Operation Sindoor, which took place from May 7 to May 10.
Squadron Leader Saurabh Dharmadhikari from Kasba Peth and Flight Lieutenant Akash Bibikar from Nigdi Pradhikaran are stationed at Squadron 15 of the Sirsa Air Force Station, one of the frontline air bases along the Pakistan border.
4. Pakistan once again resorted to its disinformation campaign, rewarding the so-called “S-400 destroyer” on its Independence Day.
Wing Commander Malik Rizwan-ul-Haq Iftikhar, who was felicitated for “destroying” India’s S-400 air defence system.
