1. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating his 75th birthday today, 17th September 2025.
2. Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the web portal for Special Campaign 5.0 for institutionalizing swachhata and minimizing pendency at government offices in New Delhi.

4. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled a song dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, which falls on September 17. The song, titled “Namo Pragati Dilli — Baal Swar Se Rashtra Swar Tak,” was crafted by Delhi’s Education Department. It features students singing in 21 languages to honour Modi’s 75th birthday.
5. The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts will organise the art exhibition ‘Mann ki Baat’ in Samvet Auditorium, IGNCA in New Delhi. The exhibition will remain open to the public from 17th September to 22nd September 2025 from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM daily.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a major reform in the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme (BSCCS), a flagship initiative launched in 2016 under the “Saat Nischay Yojana.” Ahead of the Assembly elections, the scheme has been made more student-friendly, offering interest-free loans to all students pursuing higher education.
7. Seven new Indian sites—including the Deccan Traps (Maharashtra), Tirumala Hills (Andhra Pradesh), and Meghalayan Age Caves (Meghalaya)—have been added to the UNESCO Tentative List, raising India’s total to 69 properties.

3. Assam Police Chief Minister’s Vigilance team conducted a raid on the residence of Assam Civil Service officer Nupur Bora in Guwahati. They seized around ₹90 lakh in cash and gold ornaments valued at over ₹1 crore, totalling an estimated ₹2 crore.
4. Renowned author and activist Arundhati Roy has ignited a firestorm of criticism following her controversial remarks alleging that the Indian state has “perpetually waged war” on its own citizens since gaining independence in 1947.
In a resurfaced video that has gone viral on social media, Roy asserts that regions such as Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Telangana, Punjab, Goa, and Hyderabad have been subjected to military action by the Indian government, which she characterizes as an “upper caste Hindu state perpetually at war.”

2. Hollywood actor-director Robert Redford passed away today at the age of 89 at his home in Utah, Western United States. The actor-director-producer is known for his roles in classic films such as ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’, ‘The Sting’, and ‘All the President’s Men’. He won an Oscar for directing ‘Ordinary People’ in 1980 and received an honorary lifetime achievement Oscar in 2002.

1. The Indian Army has inducted 159 Sharang 155mm 45-caliber upgraded guns but has halted the induction of the remaining 141 units. Artillery units have reported repeated failures and serious defects in metals, electronics, and components since the first induction in 2020, with Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited failing to address these issues despite two years of complaints.
2. DRDO Puts 360° AWACS on Hold, Focus Shifts to 300° Netra Mk2*: The DRDO has deprioritized its dedicated 360° rotodome-based AWACS project as the Indian Air Force now focuses on the Netra Mark II, which offers robust 300° coverage on the Airbus A320 platform.
3. The Indian Naval Ship Kadmatt, an anti-submarine warfare corvette, has reached Suva, Fiji, as part of its overseas deployment.
4. The Indian city of Chennai will host the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in 2027. This event will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Indian Coast Guard.
