1. The Telangana Bandh, initially planned for October 14, has now been rescheduled to October 18. The Backward Classes (BC) Joint Action Committee (JAC), led by MP R. Krishnaiah, announced the new date, citing the ongoing festive season and public convenience. The bandh aims to intensify the ongoing movement demanding 42% reservations for BCs in Telangana.
2. The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the re-arrest of two women-journalists from Telangana – first arrested on March 12 and released on bail five days later – for posting and amplifying allegedly abusive social media content against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah says 258 Naxalites surrendered in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra in the last two days.
