Over 72 million people across the heartland states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will vote for 230 assembly seats in the former and 70 seats in the latter on Friday, sealing the fate of 3,491 candidates in polls that will have significant national ramifications.

4. State-run UCO bank has sought the intervention of the apex probe agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in the Rs 820 crore money transfer case.
Following a technical glitch, the bank erroneously credited the accounts of many of its customers, but it has worked overtime and recovered 79 percent. It is now engaged with all stakeholders to recover the remaining amount.

1. SJVN Limited, a government-owned hydroelectric power generation and transmission company, said on November 16 it has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 200-MW grid connected wind power project, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,400 crore.
2. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 19 projects, involving a cumulative investment of around Rs 56,000 crore to Private Players on Build-Operate-Transfer Mode. These highway projects, covering a length of around 900 km, are spread across several states, including Assam, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and TelanganaTelangana.

1. INS Vikrant, India’s first domestically built aircraft carrier, achieved full operational status on November 16, 2023. The INS Vikrant is the seventh largest aircraft carrier in the world.
The ship was commissioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2, 2022 at Cochin Shipyard. It was delivered to the Indian Navy on July 28, 2022.
2. The Indian Navy carried out the second anti-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the deployment of INS Sumedha was also used to further the capability and enhance the Navy-to-Navy connection with regional partners.
3. Indian agencies have decided that they will continue to use the American Cummins engine for the entire Zorawar light tank project, which got delayed by a few months due to issues in the supply of German engines.
4. The 37th Infantry Commanders’ Conference, a two-day event, concluded successfully at the Infantry School in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday. The conference, held every two years, was presided over by General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS).
5. The ninth edition of Joint Military exercise “Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2023” commenced in Aundh (Pune). The exercise is being conducted from 16th to 29th November 2023. The Indian contingent, of 120 personnel, is being represented mainly by troops from the MARATHA LIGHT INFANTRY Regiment. The Sri Lankan side is being represented by personnel from 53 Infantry Division.
