1. Govt launched digital platform Kisan Sarathi to facilitate farmers to get right information at right time in their desired language. It was jointly launched by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar & Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw through video conference on the occasion of 93rd ICAR Foundation Day.

2. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh held an interaction with the three recognised Defence Civilian Employees’ Federations on the issues related to Corporatisation of Ordnance Factory Board in New Delhi on 16 Jul. These are All India Defence Employees’ Federation, Indian National Defence Workers’ Federation and Bhartiya Pratiraksha Mazdoor Sangh.

3. PM Modi interacted with Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra and Kerala to discuss Covid related situation. CMs also provided feedback about the vaccination strategy.

4. The Reserve Bank has imposed restrictions on Mastercard Asia/Pacific Private Limited for adding new domestic customers from 22nd July 2021. This order will not impact existing Mastercard customers.

There was no board exam in Maharashtra this year in view of the COVID pandemic. Instead, results have been prepared using students’ performance in past exams.

8. Karnataka govt allows reopening of medical, dental colleges: Only students, teaching & non-teaching staff who have taken at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine will be permitted to attend college.

9. Tamil Nadu Extends Lockdown Till July 31 With Some Relaxations: Schools, Colleges, theaters, bars, and swimming pools will remain closed.

10. The borders of Uttarakhand will be sealed for Kanwariyas from July 24:. The Uttarakhand govt has decided to suspend the Kanwar Yatra for the safety of people in view of the looming threat of the third wave of COVID-19. Start of the month of Shravan in the Hindu calendar on July 25, Kanwariyas begin to pour into Haridwar in large numbers to collect the holy water of the Ganga.

11. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh is learnt to have written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on 16 Jul (Friday) expressing reservation over Navjot Singh Sidhu’s possible appointment as the state party chief.

12. Assam, Finance minister Ajanta Neog on 16 Jul presented a 566.20 crore rupees deficit state budget for the year 2021-22.

13. The Kerala govt has launched a mass drive to make the tourism destinations in the state ‘complete vaccinated zones’ by giving jabs to everyone working in the sector.

Kashmir Valley, Srinagar based Chinar Corps observed 50th Anniversary of Vijay Diwas, which is being celebrated as Swarnim Vijay Varsh, by paying tributes to valiant soldiers of the armed forces who made the supreme sacrifice during various operations in the 1971 war. A solemn wreath laying ceremony was held at war memorial Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.

15. Surekha Sikri (19 April 1945 – 16 July 2021) an Indian theatre, film and television actress was died at 76 yrs. A veteran of Hindi theatre, she made her debut in the 1978. She was awarded the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role in 2008 for her work in the primetime soap opera Balika Vadhu.
