5. Union Government has decided to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for the safety and security of journalists. Sources said that the Ministry of Home Affairs will prepare these SOPs under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah.

13. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said if his party wins Karnataka Assembly polls, 200 units of free electricity will be given to all every month. CRIME REPORT
1. Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf were buried in their ancestral village Kasari Masari graveyard in Prayagraj for performing the last rites in this Uttar Pradesh district amid tight security on Sunday.
The bodies of former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ahmad and Ashraf, who were gunned down by three assailants posing as journalists in Prayagraj on Saturday night, were taken to the graveyard in ambulances.
2. Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Sunday said that, “Atiq Ahmad, who was brought from a Gujarat jail, and his brother Ashraf, who was brought from Bareilly jail, Saturday night in Prayagraj in police custody is just as heinous as the Umesh Pal murder case. The killing in police custody raises serious questions over the style of functioning of the Uttar Pradesh government”. She said.

According to Special DG (Law and Order) statement:: At about 10.30 pm on Saturday both Atiq and Ashraf were being taken for a health examination Motilal Nehru Regional Hospital in Shahganj area, where from the crowd of media, three persons with video camera, mike and media ID reached them and started firing indiscriminately. The three attackers were caught by the policemen.
4. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was questioned for nearly nine hours by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday in the excise policy case.

Supreme Court to hear a plea for a direction to West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat,Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand & Telangana governments to assess loss of properties & injuries suffered by people during violence witnessed during ‘Ram Navami’ procession on March 30 and subsequently & pay them adequate compensation.
6. Recently, The Supreme Court said that prisoners on death row were taking advantage of inordinate delays in deciding mercy petitions to seek commutation of their punishment to life sentence, thereby defeating the purpose of death sentence.
A convict can present a mercy petition to the President of India under Article 72 of the Constitution of India.
Similarly, the power to grant pardon is conferred upon the Governors of States under Article 161 of the Constitution of India.
7. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has issued an advisory asking people not to download a suspicious Android application called ‘irctcconnect.apk.’ The app is being circulated through messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram. “Fraudsters are convincing people to download this and tricking victims into revealing their sensitive net banking credentials,” IRCTC said.

1. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has granted clearance to EbixCash, the Indian subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Ebix Inc, for its proposed Initial Public Offering (IPO). EbixCash is now planning to work on the next steps leading to its listing on NSE and BSE, it said in a statement. The IPO is expected to raise between ₹6,000-₹8,000 crore.
2. SBI filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking clarification on the apex court’s order which ruled that borrowers have right to be heard before their accounts are classified as fraudulent. SBI said that the order could be misconstrued by defaulters to initiate litigation. SBI also asked the court to clarify that it wouldn’t impact past cases.

1. The Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), a lab under DRDO, today handed over indigenous aircraft quality Aircraft Mounted Accessory Gear Box (AMAGB) bearings and flight clearance certificate of PTO Shaft for TEJAS to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (Engines) Bangalore.The bearings, designed and developed by CVRDE.
2. In a major push to counter Chinese manoeuvres in Arunachal Pradesh, the Union government has earmarked six out of seven sanctioned Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) battalions and stationed one sector headquarters in the north eastern border state.
