1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall at isolate places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh tomorrow due to deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal.

2. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu has extended her greetings to the citizens on the eve of Milad un Nabi. The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad is observed as Milad-un-Nabi.

Milad –Ul-Nabi is celebrated on the twelfth day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which is the third month of the Islamic calendar. This was the day on which the prophet was born. However, the Shia community celebrates the festival on the 17th day. This day is both the day of birth and death of the prophet. It is also the day on which the spiritual reins of the Islamic world was handed over to Hazrat Ali. It is also known as Eid-e-milad.

3. Vishwakarma Jayanti : On September 16, the divine architect Lord Vishwakarma will be worshiped. This day is also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti. It
is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma who is known to be the divine architect. Lord Vishwakarma is the creator of all the palaces of Hindu Gods and Goddesses along with their weapons and vehicles. The festival of Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma every year. It falls on the day of Kanya Sankranti which comes on the 16th or 17th of September as per the Gregorian calendar.

Kanya Sankranti is the day when the Sun moves from Simha rashi (Leo Zodiac sign) to Kanya rashi. It is the Purattasi month as per the Tamil calendar.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, expansion of rail connectivity in eastern India will boost economy of entire region; PM Modi lays foundation stone and dedicates to nation Railway Projects worth over 660 crore rupees in Jharkhand.

5. Prime Minister Modi also released the first installment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to thousands of beneficiaries. Thirty-two crore rupees were digitally transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries. Besides the Prime Minister also distributed sanction letters of 32 thousand houses to beneficiaries of PMAY-G.

6. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that he will resign from the Chief Ministerial post after two days. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener said, in the next couple of days, a meeting of the party MLAs will be held to decide a new Chief Minister.

7. Jammu and Kashmir the government has granted three-day special casual leave in favour of employees of Jammu division posted in Kashmir Valley, to enable them to vote in the three notified phases of General Elections to Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir, 2024. Special casual leave from 27 Sep to 19 Sep.

8. The Election campaign has also picked up pace for single-phase assembly polls in Haryana. Voting for the 90-member state assembly will be held on the 5th of October.

9. Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, DPIIT is set to launch a digital platform – BHASKAR- aimed at strengthening India’s startup ecosystem. The Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry, BHASKAR initiative, is a platform designed to centralize, streamline, and enhance collaboration among key stakeholders within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

10. The Vice-President, Jagdeep Dhankhar yesterday visited Nagpur to inaugurate the Digital Tower at Ramdeobaba University.

11. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) announced that metro services will be extended beyond midnight on Tuesday, September 17 in view of the last day of Ganesh immersion. The last trains in all directions will depart at 1 am and are expected to reach their destinations around 2 am.

12. PM Modi will flag off the second phase of Ahmedabad Metro connecting Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar. The PM will also interact with the beneficiaries of Pradhanmantri Suryaghar Yojana and inaugurate the fourth edition of Renewable Energy Conference at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

13. In Kerala, the death of a 24 year old youth at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district a week ago, has been confirmed to being Nipah positive.

Persons renting out their property to foreigners for accommodation must report the stay of a foreign national to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). It is mandatory for a hotel keeper, property owner, administrator, or manager to inform the FRRO about the foreign national staying on their premises within 24 hours of arrival.

The death toll in the building collapse in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh has risen to 10. The three-storey building collapsed in the Zakir Colony of Meerut on 14 Sep evening.

2. Five people were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Dhule district in Maharashtra. The incident occurred when a speeding private passenger vehicle collided head-on with a van. Among the deceased are three women.

1. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transaction limit change: The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased the transaction limit for certain payments using UPI to Rs 5 lakh, making it easier for individuals who use online payments. This move aligns with India’s push for a digital economy. The increased limit is likely to be effective from 16 September 2024.

2. Bank of Baroda has announced the inauguration of a ‘Phygital’ branch at Vile Parle, Mumbai, which will seamlessly integrate self-service and assisted service models to meet the diverse requirements of customers. This is the bank’s third Phygital branch in India.

These selections will highlight the creative vision and unique storytelling approaches of young filmmakers, providing a platform for new talent and showcasing the work of emerging directors.

Entries for the “Best Debut Indian Film Section” are open now, and the last date of submission is September 23rd.

1. The Air Force Association (AFA) celebrated its 44th Annual Day yesterday. As part of the celebrations, the President of Air Force Association, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria (Retd) laid a wreath at the National War Memorial on behalf of all IAF Veterans in the morning on 15 Sep 24, to honour those Armed Forces personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. This was followed by the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi.

2. 🇦🇲Armenia, which has fought two wars with 🇦🇿Azerbaijan since the collapse of the Soviet Union, is seeking India’s help to upgrade its small fleet of Russia 🇷🇺-built Su-30SM fighter aircraft, with the development coming on the back of the country ordering rocket systems, artillery guns and weapon locating radars from India.
