7. The Union government has unveiled an ambitious ₹6.4 lakh crore ($77 billion) hydroelectric transmission plan aimed at harnessing over 76 gigawatts (GW) of renewable power from the Brahmaputra basin by 2047.
8. FM Nirmala Sitharaman Inaugurates Farmers Training & Processing Centre in Koppal, Karnataka
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Farmers Training and Common Facility Centre at Methagal village of Koppal in North Karnataka yesterday. The facility built with the financial assistance under MPLADS was executed by NABARD.
9. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched three new door-to-door freight and parcel services, including the Assured Transit Container Service (Delhi to Kolkata), door-to-door parcel service (Mumbai to Kolkata), and railway goods sheds as integrated logistics hubs. These services aim to enhance efficiency, ensure faster and on-time delivery, and reduce logistics costs, boosting overall freight handling in India.
10. India’s Civil Aviation Ministry introduced a pioneering fixed airfare scheme called ‘Fare Se Fursat’ in 2025. The initiative, led by government-owned Alliance Air, aims to stabilise ticket prices on select regional routes.
11. 190 IPS Trainees, Including 65 Women and 16 Foreign Officers, to Join Passing Out Parade on FridayFriday : A total of 190 officer trainees including 65 women officers will take part in the passing out parade in the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad on Friday. These trainees include 16 foreign officers from Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives.
12. The BJP released another list of 12 candidates for the Bihar Assembly Polls yesterday. Folk singer Maithili Thakur who recently joined the party has been fielded from Alinagar. Former IPS officer Anand Mishra will fight from Buxar seat. Dr Siyaram Singh will contest from Barh constituency and Mahesh Paswan will fight from Agiaon seat. With this the party has announced the name of 83 candidates, so far.
13. Punjab is planning to clean, deepen and widen the Ravi and Sutlej rivers, which fall under its jurisdiction, to permanently protect the state from future floods. It has sought permission from the Central Government to clean the Beas River, designated as a Ramsar site as well. 28 Locations along the Beas River requiring urgent cleaning have been identified.
14. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has said that the State Government had provided enough security arrangements at the political rally at Karur where the Stampede incident occurred.
15. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated Jay Dholakia, son of late Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Rajendra Dholakia, as its candidate for the high-stakes Nuapada assembly by-election in Odisha to be held on the 11th of next month. The by-election marks the first major electoral test for the BJP government led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi since it assumed power in Odisha.

1. The Supreme Court on extended the interim order restraining the Enforcement Directorate from taking coercive action, including search, seizure or investigation, against the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) in connection with the liquor retail scam in Tamil Nadu.
2. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal launched the LIMBS Live Cases Dashboard to boost transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government litigation. The dashboard provides real-time updates on over 7 lakh live cases from 53 ministries, showing cases scheduled in the next seven days across the Supreme Court, High Courts, and others.
3. Assam, a large agitated crowds burned a police vehicle and pelted stones at vehicles carrying accused for the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg at Mushalpur in the Baksa district yesterday.
4. In Chhattisgarh, twenty-seven Maoists surrendered in Sukma district yesterday. Among them are ten women Maoists. Sixteen of these surrendered ultras were carrying a total reward of fifty lakh rupees on their heads.
5. In West Bengal, the Durgapur court yesterday ordered police custody for seven days for the batchmate of the alleged gang rape victim, a medical student in Durgapur. Yesterday he was arrested by the police. Total six arrest have been made by the police so far in this case.

Twenty persons were burnt alive, and 16 others sustained burn injuries when an air-conditioned sleeper bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire near Thaiyat village on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) afternoon. Several of the injured, including women and children, are reported to be in critical condition.

1. The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop 300 MW solar power projects across its establishments.
2. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft program, a critical component of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) pilot training modernisation effort, has encountered fresh delays following disruptions in component supplies from foreign partners.
3. The Gaganyaan mission marks India’s first attempt to transport human astronauts into a low-Earth orbit around 400 km altitude using the human-rated LVM3 (HLVM3) launch vehicle.
4. Gujarat-based InsideFPV Ventures Pvt Ltd has secured an Indian Army contract valued at ₹16.69 lakh for the supply of 40 FPV Kamikaze drones. The company emerged as the L1 bidder, offering each unit at an unprecedented low cost of approximately $400 (₹41,700), positioning it as the most affordable FPV Kamikaze drone in the global defence market.
5. European defence major MBDA has formally India to participate in its ambitious STRATUS (Strategic Tactical Reach and Universal Strike) program—an initiative designed to define Europe’s next-generation strike capabilities for the 2030s and beyond.
