1.Vijayadashami has been celebrated across the country. President, Vice-President and Prime Minister greet people on the occasion. 6. Minister of State of Ministry of Communication, Devusinh Chauhan, launched a Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI Scheme) for Telecom & Networking Products on October 14, 2021. This scheme would help in reducing dependence of India on other countries for importing telecom and networking products.
7. J&K : Two militants involved in recent Srinagar killings gunned down on Friday in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
8. Kerala: The Adani Group has taken over the operation, management and development of the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram. International Airport is the first of four airports in the state. Established in 1932, the airport was owned and operated by Airports Authority of India.
9. Punjab : Navjot Singh Sidhu will be continuing as Punjab Congress President as the leader has withdrawn his resignation, party general secretary incharge of Punjab affairs Harish Rawat said.

A semi-naked mutilated body of a man with his left hand and foot chopped off was found hanging from an overturned police barricade near the main stage of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) at Singhu border on Friday morning. In a purported video clip that has gone viral on social media, a few Nihangs are seen standing around the injured man with his severed hand tied close to his head. The group is heard accusing him of desecrating a Sikh holy book and asking him who sent him to “commit the sacrilege”.

12. Bollywood: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan on Friday was allowed a 10-minute supervised video call with his family. He also received a money order worth Rs 4,500 from his home to order food and other items from the canteen at Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail. This is the maximum amount of money allowed that can be sent to someone in jail.
13. Today Birthday of bollywood actress Hema Malini (born 16 October 1948) a writer, director, producer, dancer and politician. In 1962, she made her acting debut in the Tamil film Ithu Sathiyam. Malini first acted in a main role in Sapno Ka Saudagar (1968), and went on to feature in numerous Bollywood films, primarily as the lead actress. In most of her films, she starred opposite her husband Dharmendra and with Rajesh Khanna and Dev Anand.
14. PM Modi’s Big Defence Move To “Make India World’s Biggest Military Power”: PM Modi dedicated 7 new state-run defence firms replacing the Ordnance Factory Board. The government had decided to replace the over 200-year-old Ordnance Factory Board into seven fully entities to improve self-reliance in the country’s defence preparedness. 41 Ordnance factories will be converted into 7 government-run corporate entities.
15. Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2021 : As part of the ongoing Indo-US Defence Cooperation, the joint military training exercise ‘Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2021’ will be conducted at the USA’s Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Alaska. The 17th edition of the exercise “Yudh Abhyas” will be conducted at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Alaska from October 15 to 29.
The Indian contingent at the exercise will comprise 350 personnel. The previous edition of the exercise took place at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Bikaner in February.
16. Indian Navy MR Recruitment 2021 Notification ; An unmarried male candidates for the post of Matric Recruit (MR) as Sailors for MR for 300 vacancies. Selected candidates will be recruited for April 22 Batch. Eligible and interested candidates can apply online on joinindiannavy.gov.in on 02 November 2021. Application will start from 29 October 2021.
17. Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) seminar on ‘Role of Women in Armed Forces’ was organised on October 14, in virtual mode. During the seminar, defence minister Rajnath Singh. This seminar was hosted by India, highlighting the role of India’s women military officers in UN peacekeeping missions at global level.
18. Indian Army started commissioning women officers from year 1992. Army has now moved to induct women officers in more branches of Army as well. Women of Indian Armed Forces Medical Services headed the UN Peacekeeping mission in 1960 in Republic of Congo and assisted in setting a 400-bed hospital. India also created history in the year 2007 by deploying “all-female Formed Police Unit” for UN Peacekeeping in Liberia. In the year 2019, India deployed a Female Engagement Team under the UN Stabilization Mission in Democratic Republic of the Congo.
19. China and Russia are holding Joint naval drills called “Joint Sea 2021 naval exercise” in the Sea of Japan. The joint naval drill was kicked off from October 14, 2021 and till October 17, 2021.
