1. Air connectivity in Northeast India is set to improve significantly with Alliance Air launching new flight services connecting Imphal to Guwahati, Kolkata, and Dimapur, effective 15 January, 2025.

7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR due to dense to very dense fog in many places. Dense fog and low visibility engulfed the Delhi-NCR, affecting flight and rail operations. As many as 44 Delhi-bound trains and several flights have been reported delayed.
8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to renowned Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar on the occasion of Thiruvalluvar Day. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said that the verses of Thiruvalluvar reflect the essence of Tamil culture and the philosophical heritage of the country.

12. Several prominent candidates of BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress filed their nominations for Delhi assembly polls. A total of 194 nominations were filed on the fourth day of nomination today. The nomination process will continue till Friday.

1. The Karnataka High Court Wednesday lifted the interim stay it had earlier imposed on the Mysuru Lokayukta police from conducting any further investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his co-accused in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
2. A high-powered enquiry committee, which was set up on receipt of information provided by US authorities regarding the activities of some organised criminal groups and terrorist organisations, has submitted its report to the Central government. The Union Home Ministry said the Committee has recommended legal action against an individual, whose earlier criminal links and antecedents also came to notice during the enquiry.
3. The Supreme Court ordered the construction and availability of separate toilet facilities for males, females, Persons with Disability (PwD), and transgender persons in all court premises and tribunals across the country.
4. In Jammu and Kashmir, the mysterious illness in Rajouri district has claimed two more lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 14 since December 2024.

1. India’s GDP growth is projected to improve to 6.7% in the fiscal year 2025 (FY25), according to a CRISIL Intelligence report. This anticipated growth follows a moderation to 6.4% in the current fiscal year, down from 8.2% in the previous year.
2. South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Chhattisgarh-based subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has launched a Post-Retirement Benefit (PRB) Cell. 1. The Bollywood box office is gearing up for a big clash on January 17. Azaad and Emergency movies are set to hit the theatres. Both movies cater to distinct audiences and bring unique narratives to the big screen. But, early predictions suggest differing fates for these releases.
2. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule shattered box office records and emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in India. The film which released in theatres on December 5 is still running in theatres even after a month. 20 minutes of added footage being will be released from January 17. Now, the composer of both of the Pushpa films, Devi Sri Prasad, has spilled details about the third part in an interview.

Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan spoke to Times Now about the success of south Indian films and said, “South films are very grounded, they’re carrying on pertinently with old-school format of song-action-dialogue-emotions. 1. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi said that Army Commanders have been asked to write and hold discussions with Chief Ministers to decide how veterans can be utilised by the states for development.
2. Bhargavastra micro-missile system: India has successfully tested its first domestically developed micro-missile system, engineered to counter swarm drone threats. The testing included two successful firings at the Gopalpur Seaward Firing Ranges this week.
3. PM Modi stated on Wednesday that 60 large Navy ships, valued around Rs 1.5 trillion, are under construction in the country, with the investment expected to generate an economic circulation of around Rs 3 trillion and a sixfold employment multiplier effect.

5. Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has launched the second multi-purpose vessel for the Indian Navy from its Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai.
The launch of the vessel, christened INS Utkarsh, comes within three months of the launch of the first MPV INS Samarthak. The first vessel is being readied for undergoing tests and trials prior to its delivery to the Indian Navy.

The army chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, has requested his Nepali counterpart to revive the recruitment of Gorkhas in the Indian Army, which has not taken place in four years because of the pandemic and then the Himalayan nation’s refusal to allow its ethnic community to join the Indian armed forces under the controversial Agnipath scheme.
7. The Centre has approved the creation of two new Reserve Battalions of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) taking the total number of battalions from 13 to 15.
