CRIME REPORT

1. ATIQ AHMED, ASHRAF SHOT DEAD : Gangster- politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead on Saturday night while being taken for medical tests in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

The development comes just hours after the last rites of Asad Ahmed, son of Atiq Ahmed, were performed at Kasari Masari graveyard in Prayagraj. The security outside the residence of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has been beefed up after the murders. As many as 17 police officials have been suspended and Section 144 has been imposed in Prayagraj.

Atiq Ahmed’s Killers Came on Bike, Posed as Journalists & Opened Fire on Him from Point Blank Range. All three shooters of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf, have been apprehended.

2. Police conducted a flag march in Lucknow’s Husainabad after the incident of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf shot dead.

3. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to summon Delhi CM & AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to question him in a liquor excise policy case at CBI headquarters at New Delhi.

An Ahmedabad magistrate court Saturday issued a summons to Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal and the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in a criminal defamation complaint over their statements about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree case. Both leaders have been asked to appear on May 23 after the court has prima facie found a valid case of defamation in the leaders’ statements.

5. The death toll in Bihar’s Motihari hooch tragedy rose to 20, with half a dozen people being hospitalised in critical condition.

6. Joga Singh, a key aide of Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh has been arrested in Punjab. According to police, Joga Singh was with Amritpal Singh from March 18 to 28 and arranged shelter for him in Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh. Singh also arranged vehicles for Amritpal Singh and brought him back to Punjab on March 27.

7. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued guidelines for the first time for conducting a preliminary assessment to determine whether a child should be treated as a minor or not in criminal cases which come under the “heinous” offences category of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

1. India’s goods exports declined for the second successive month in March, falling 13.9% to USD 38.38 billion, while imports dipped 7.9% to USD 58.11 billion.

2. Consumer inflation eases to 5.66% in March; This is higher than the 6.5% average price rise projected by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

3. National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) imposed a year-long ban and penalties of ₹1 lakh each on four auditors for alleged misconduct during the audit of branches of Dewan Housing Finance Corp Ltd (DHFL). As per NFRA’s investigation, none of the 33 branch auditors were approved at DHFL’s general meeting. DHFL was acquired and is now owned by Piramal Group.

2. The Central government on Saturday cancelled Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card of Kannada actor Chetan Kumar, popularly known as Chetan Ahimsa over his alleged involvement in anti-national activities. Chetan, is a US citizen and is based out of Chicago. He got his OCI card in 2018.
