Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi, the doyen of Indian hospitality and Chairman Emeritus of the Oberoi Group, passed away on November 14 morning, leaving behind a legacy of impeccable hospitality.

1. Today BHAI DOOJ festival is celebrated, it is last day of the 5-day long festival of Diwali. On this day the sisters offer prayers for a happy and long life of their brothers.
Bhai Dooj, also known as Bhai Tika or Bhaiya Dooj It is observed on the ‘dooj’ or dwitiya tithi (2nd day) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight of moon) in the Hindu month of Kartik.

3. On the occasion of Jan Jaatiya Gaurav Divas, PM Modi selected Jharkhand to launch the PM PVTG scheme, which was announced in the 2023-24 Budget. PM Modi is going to launch ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’.

The Prime Minister will also release the 15th instalment (August-November 2023) of over ₹17,000 crore under the PM-KISAN scheme, since it was due from August. The Centre has been transferring ₹6,000 to the bank accounts of land-owning eligible farmers every year, in three equal installments, under PM-Kisan.

4. Campaigning for single-phase assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and 2nd phase of polling in Chhattisgarh to end today.

5. The Election Commission has asked political parties to submit in sealed cover the details of electoral bonds received by them till September this year.

6. The 42nd edition of the India International Trade Fair -2023 was inaugurated at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi yesterday. The fair will continue till 27th of this month.

7. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting successfully completed Special Campaign 3.0 on Swachhata and disposal of pendency in which it disposed of two Lakh kilogram of scraps and generated a revenue of three crore 62 lakh rupees.

8. In Uttarakhand, the Portals of the sacred shrine Gangotri Dham located in Uttarkashi were closed for the winter on the occasion of the Annakoot festival.

9. In Maharashtra, a three-day ‘Janjaati Mahotsav’ is going to be launched in Nandurbar on the occasion of Lord Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary.

10. In Tamil Nadu, the Regional Met Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at most places over North Coastal parts and in interior parts of the State. Isolated heavy rains are also likely over three districts due to the prevalence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over South West Bay of Bengal.

11. In Telangana, the election authorities have rejected nominations of 606 candidates in 119 constituencies in the state. These nomination papers for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections were rejected due to incomplete information.

12. The Karnataka Examination Authority has prohibited candidates from wearing any form of headgear or head dress for the upcoming competitive exams to fill vacancies in some state government bodies.

1. The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for allegedly making unverified and false statements with regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has also issued a similar notice to the Aam Aadmi Party for alleged disparaging remarks made against the PM on its social media handle.

2. The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday issued an order that victims of dog bites would now be eligible for financial assistance of up to Rs 20,000. A compensation of Rs 10,000 will be given in cases related to a single tooth mark.

3. A special POCSO court in Kerala has sentenced Ashwaq Alam to death for the brutal rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl from Bihar in the Aluva case. The court’s decision was announced on Tuesday by Judge K Soman. The court had earlier found Alam guilty on 16 charges.

4. The Manipur government once again extended the ban on mobile internet service for another five days till Nov 18.

5. National Investigation Agency, NIA has attached the properties of two key Lashkar-e-Taiba, LeT operatives in a case relating to attack on police in Srinagar in 2018 that led to the escape of Pakistan LeT terrorists.

6. In TELANGANA: A probe into the Balaji Residency fire tragedy, in which nine died and 16 were injured in a chemical-catalysed inferno on Monday, revealed that the owner of the building, Purni Ramesh Jaiswal, was present on the premises at the time of the fire. Fire started due to a short circuit in the main panel board.

7. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on home affairs has recommended a minimum imprisonment of six months for those selling adulterated food or drinks, along with a minimum fine of Rs 25,000.

8. Uttarakhand tunnel collapse: Efforts continue to evacuate 40 trapped workers. The total length of the tunnel is nearly 4.5 km for which digging has been completed for almost 3.9 km.

1. Subrata Roy, the Chairman and Managing Worker of Sahara India Group, passed away at the age of 75 due to cardiorespiratory arrest at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute in Mumbai.

2. The government is considering the divestment of 5-10% stake in public sector lenders in which it currently holds over 80% equity. Government ownership exceeds 80% in six state-run banks – Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India and Uco Bank.

3. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has now mandated a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in infrastructure projects for professionals engaged by national highway contractors under engineering procurement construction (EPC).

4. The Ministry of Coal will launch the 8th Round of Commercial Coal Mines Auctions. A total of 39 Mines of five states are to be offered in this round of auction.

1. PIPPA movie song Karar Oi Louho Kopat is grabbing attention. Pippa makers have clarified their artistic interpretation of the iconic song by Kazi Nazrul Islam after the late poet’s grandson and painter Kazi Anirban claimed that the family had given the makers permission to use the song, but not to change the tunes and rhythm.

The film, starring Ishaan Khatter and Mrunal Thakur, is set during the 1971 India-Pakistan war and is directed by Raja Krishna Menon. Pippa was released on Prime Video on November 10.

1. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to attend the 10th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADM plus) in Jakarta, Indonesia, from November 16-17.

2. 🇷🇺Russia and India have entered into an agreement for the supply of Igla-S hand-held anti-aircraft missiles, and Russia has granted a licence for the Igla’s production. The Igla-S is a man-portable air defence system (MANPADS) that can be fired by an individual or crew to bring down an enemy aircraft.

3. India’s indigenously developed TEJAS aircraft stole the spotlight at the Dubai Air Show, showcasing its exceptional performance capabilities and cutting-edge features.

4. Another bomb has been added under TEJAS’s wings as UAE-based Edge Group completed feasibility studies for integrating the Al-Tariq Long-Range Precision-Guided Munitions (LR-PGMs) onto the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) TEJAS, revealed Edge group’s official statement on Tuesday November 14.

5. The Nirbhay class long-range cruise missiles are being developed by the DRDO indigenously and are sub-sonic in speed

In a significant boost to the firepower of the defence forces, all three defence forces will now have long-range cruise missiles of the Nirbhay class in their arsenal to strike targets at ranges of over 1,000 km.

6. The Army and IAF successfully ensured the safe return of 39 Myanmarese military personnel who had crossed the international border and sought refuge in Mizoram on Monday after fleeing rebel resistance groups in the northern territories of their country.
