1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu attended the Raja Parb celebration at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday. On the ocassion, she also witnessed the cultural performances which included Raja geet and dance performances such as Mayurbhanj Chhau dance, Sambalpuri dance and Karma dance.

3. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will be required to provide a full refund of fees for all cancellations or migrations up to 30th September this year. The University Grants Commission has announced this in the new fee refund policy for the 2024-25 academic session.
4. Portfolios have been allotted to the newly sworn Ministers in Andhra Pradesh. While Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu kept with him General Administration, Law and Order, Public Enterprises, Jana Sena Party Chief K Pawan Kalyan was made Deputy Chief Minister along with the portfolios of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Rural Water supply, Environment & Forest and Science and Technology. Senior BJP leader Satya Kumar Yadav was allotted Health, Family welfare and Medical Education.
5. In Uttar Pradesh, 13 newly elected members of legislative council took the oath of office and secrecy. The swearing-in ceremony took place in Tilak Hall located in the main building of the Secretariat. All the 13 newly elected MLCs were administered the oath by Legislative Council Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Pratap Singh.
6. Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang held a high-level meeting at Mintokgang Gangtok to address a recent calamity that caused significant property damage and disrupted road connectivity, power, food supply, and mobile networks.
7. The Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, started the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina (MMNM) plan on June 12, 2024. This was a big step to help girls go to school and stop them from getting married young. Through a structured financial aid scheme, this project aims to give female students more power.

10. The city of Joshimath in Uttarakhand has been officially renamed as Jyotirmath. The decision was announced by the state government after getting approval from the Centre.
Jyotirmath (also known as Jyotir Peeth) is one of the four cardinal mathas (monasteries) that 8th-century philosopher Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have established across India to promote the Advaita Vedanta philosophy.
11. The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday released a list of candidates for the by-election to the West Bengal assembly on 10 July.
12. Ahead of the 10th edition of the International Yoga Day on the 21st of this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video clip of Trikonasana or the triangular posture on social media platform X. The clip described the health benefits as well as steps to perform this asana.
13. The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin on 22 July. The session is likely to continue until August 9. The government is also likely to present the full Budget for 2024-2025 during the Monsoon Session, with the Finance Ministry starting its pre-consultation Budget meetings with various ministries and stakeholders by 17 June.
14. The India Meteorological Department reported that heatwave conditions also prevailed in parts of Punjab, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and northeast Madhya Pradesh. The weather department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy falls expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India over the next four to five days.

1. Three newly enacted laws—the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—will come into effect from July 1. These laws, introduced in Parliament during its Monsoon session in August last year, will replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872, respectively.
2. The Supreme Court sought responses from the Centre and the National Testing Agency on a plea seeking a CBI probe into the allegations of question paper leak and other irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination for admission to undergraduate medical programmes.
3. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has granted sanction to prosecute author Arundhati Roy under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). She, along with a former Professor in Central University of Kashmir, Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain have been sanctioned for prosecution under section 45 of UAPA for their alleged ‘provocative’ speech at an event in New Delhi in 2010.
4. National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested one person following massive searches across Nashik in Maharashtra in connection with the human trafficking and cyber frauds case on Friday. The accused named Sudarshan Darade of Nashik is the sixth person to be arrested in the case in less than three weeks.
5. A state of high alert was sounded in Ayodhya on Friday after terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed threatened to blow up the Ram temple.
6. Karnataka High Court directs CID to not arrest former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa till June 17 hearing in the POCSO case. The case surrounds an alleged harassment of a minor girl by B S Yediyurappa.
7. The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police recently arrested four people, including an executive magistrate (tehsildar), for ‘issuing’ caste certificates (SC/ST and OBC) illegally to applicants from non-reserved categories.

1. India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation surged to 2.61 per cent in May 2024. This is the highest rate in 15 months since February 2023, when it stood at 3.85 per cent, before dropping to 1.41 per cent in March 2023. The data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
2. The government is set to launch the 10th round of the commercial coal block auction. In this round, 62 blocks are expected to be offered. The Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy will launch the commercial coal block auctions during the next week.
3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1.45 crore on Central Bank of India for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI, the central bank said on June 14.
According to an RBI press release, the bank sanctioned a working capital demand loan to a Corporation against amounts receivable from Government by way of subsidies.
4. Foreign banks bought Indian government bonds worth 80.38 billion rupees ($962.2 million) on Thursday, the biggest single-session purchase since 01 Feb. Data from Clearing Corp of India showed.
5. BHEL on Friday said it has secured orders for two power plants worth Rs 7,000 crore from Adani Power.
(a) The first order for the 2×800 MW Raipur supercritical thermal power plant, being set up in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh
(b) The second order for the 2×800 MW Mirzapur supercritical thermal power plant, being set up in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

1. The Mumbai international film will begin in Chennai today. The festival, to be held till 21st of this month, aims to display a wide range of appreciation of films for students and the cinema lovers.
