1. The process for the election of the 16th President of India will gain momentum from today with the issuance of notification.

Nominations can be filed by the candidates till the 29th of this month. The poll for the Presidential Election will be held on the 18th of next month and counting will take place on the 21st of July. The term of office of President Ram Nath Kovind is ending on the 24th of next month.

2. Coal Ministry has launched the Project Information and Management Module of the Single Window Clearance System in New Delhi.

8. *CHHATTISGARH* : A rescue operation to save an 11-year-old boy who fell into an 80-feet-deep borewell in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district completed 100 hours on Tuesday. The child was breathing but not showing any movement, as per people involved in the rescue work. A green corridor has been created to shift the boy to a hospital in Bilaspur after he is rescued

9. *GUJARAT* : Union Cabinet approves development of new Dholera greenfield airport in Gujarat.

10. *J&K* : Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were neutralised by Srinagar Police in a swift encounter late last night in Bemina area of Srinagar city.

11. *MAHARASHTRA* : PM Modi has said Sant Tukaram became not only a ray of hope for the present society but for the future also. The PM said this while addressing devotees after inaugurating the Shila Mandir of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj at Dehu village near Pune on 14 June.

The Maharashtra govt has announced that, starting academic year 2022-2023, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduates will have to compulsorily complete their one-year rural stint after completing their course. An official circular further states that without completing the rural stint, students will not be considered eligible to apply for postgraduate entrance tests.

13. *ODISHA*: Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda has said that the govt has started a scheme, ” Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana” for faster development of tribal villages. Addressing a press conference in Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district of Odisha.

15. *RAJASTHAN* : pre-monsoon rains are continuing in Rajasthan. In the last 24 hours, very heavy rains were recorded in Barmer district and heavy rain in Baran district. Barmer’s Chauhtan recorded 130 mm of rain and Baran’s Atru 98 mm

16. *TAMIL NADU* education department has introduced a new scheme for primary school students to bridge the learning gap that was caused by the Covid-19 lock down. The scheme called “Ennum Ezhuthum ,” which means ‘numerals and letters,’ was launched by CM MK Stalin in a school near Puzhal village in Tiruvallur District near Chennai.

17. Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Tuesday warned students against carrying mobile phones to classes and said that they would be confiscated if found in schools.

18. *UTTAR PRADESH* : Several retired judges and senior advocates have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, claiming that the demolitions of violence accused’s houses in UP is “attributable to a state policy which is illegal”. The petition urged SC to take immediate suo motu action.

19. Six persons died and 14 others were injured when their tractor-trolley overturned and fell into a ditch after being hit by a tanker on Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly-Agra road on Tuesday.

1. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a moratorium to Cochin Port Authority on repayment of Central government loans amounting to over 446 crore rupees for a period of three years.

2. Tesla’s Policy and Business Development executive for India and new markets in South East Asia, Manuj Khurana, has resigned weeks after the carmaker put on hold its plans to sell electric cars in the country.

3. India’s biggest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has hiked the marginal cost of funds-based lending rate (MCLR) by 20 basis points, or 0.2%, across all loan tenors. Since consumer loans like home loans and car loans are linked with MCLR, EMIs will go up with the increase in lending rate. The new rates come into effect from June 15.

DEFENCE:

1. Centre cleared the AGNIPATH Scheme for recruitment of youth in the Armed Forces. Briefing media in New Delhi with three Service Chiefs.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, the youth selected under this scheme will be known as Agniveers. He said, the Agniveers will be getting attractive monthly package with Risk and Hardship allowances as applicable in the three services.

3. Army Chief, General Manoj Pande said the scheme will attract young talents and motivate educated youth with the right skill sets to join the Army. He also said that the implementation of the ‘Agnipath’ scheme will in no way impact the Army’s operational capabilities and preparedness along the borders with China and Pakistan.
