1. The Makar Sankranti festival is being observed across the country today. This day is dedicated to Lord Surya. It is the day when Sun travels from Sagittarius to Capricorn.

Makar Sankranti is also known as Uttarayan which means that the Sun moves towards the north.

2. PM Modi will flag off Vande Bharat Express train connecting Secunderabad with Visakhapatnam at 10:30 AM on Sunday through video conferencing.

3. National Conference’s Omar Abdullah said, DMK leader Shivaji Krishnamoorthy’s “Kashmir” remark for Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi wasn’t a “threat” expected from DMK.

1. India’s forex reserves declined by USD 1.268 billion to USD 561.583 billion for the week ended January 6, the Reserve Bank said. The overall reserves had increased by USD 44 million to USD 562.851 billion in the previous reporting week after two consecutive weeks of the slide.
