1. India is reportedly building a Naval base at Minicoy, just over 450 kms from the Maldives’s capital city Male. India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to travel to Minicoy in March to inaugurate INS Jatayu.

4. Indian Air Force (IAF) will equip its made-in-India Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A fighter jets with ‘Uttam’ radar and ‘Angad’ electronic warfare suite, replacing the imported systems installed earlier.

Indian Army, Havaldar Varinder Singh from the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army developed a ‘Multipurpose Octocopter’ which can not only undertake surveillance operations but can also be used for other tasks like logistics operations, dropping grenades, aerial engagement of targets by firing weapons like AK-47. For his achievements, Havildar Varindar Singh has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India this year.
