1. Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan has released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II Suvaran Maran in New Delhi.

2. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said that Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve will become the new home for cheetahs in the state before the monsoon next year, following the successful translocation of the big cats from Africa to Kuno National Park.

3. Delhi Govt directs all schools to conduct classes up to IX and XI in hybrid mode amid severe air pollution. This decision follows an order issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management, which invoked Stage-IV actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) with immediate effect to curb further worsening of air pollution levels in Delhi-NCR.

4. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday directed officials to prepare a plan for building India’s largest shipyard in Maharashtra by 2026. He was speaking at a review meeting of the Ports and Development Department in Nagpur at the Council Hall of the State legislature.

5. The Railways is on the verge of completing electrification on almost its entire broad-gauge network with more than 99 percent electrification completed across 25 states and union territories. The Ministry of Railways informed that over 33 thousand kilometre route was electrified between 2019 and 2025.

6. Union Minister of State for Finance and seven-time MP, Pankaj Chaudhary, has been elected president of the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit. The official announcement was made by Union minister and BJP election in-charge Piyush Goyal in Lucknow.

7. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Directorate of School Education (DSEJ) has announced winter vacations for all government and recognised private schools in the summer zone areas of Jammu Division.

8. Voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections took place in Punjab yesterday. Counting of votes will be held on December 17.

9. Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin appointed as National Working President of Bhartiya Janata Party.

10. In J&K, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has established and dedicated a ‘Sadhana Kaksh’ (Meditation Hall) amidst Vedic chanting at the Bhawan area. Located in the lower basement of the Ram Mandir along the exit cave route at Bhawan, the ‘Sadhana Kaksh’ has been developed with emphasis on simplicity and devotional sanctity. Spread over an area of approximately 15 hundred square feet, the facility can accommodate about 160-170 devotees at a time.

11. On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, President Smt Droupadi Murmu felicitated the winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 and National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025 in New Delhi.

12. The Met Department has forecast cold wave conditions over Telangana and Interior Karnataka for the next two days. Severe cold wave conditions are also expected over North Interior Karnataka. Dense fog conditions are likely to prevail over parts of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, East Madhya Pradesh, and north-eastern region.

In West Bengal, members of the enquiry committee, led by retired Justice Ashim Kumar Ray visited the Yuva Bharati Krirangan at Salt Lake yesterday in connection with chaos and arson after Lionel Messi’s departure from the stadium on Saturday. Justice said the investigation is now at preliminary stage. the arrested organiser of the Messi event – Satadru Dutta – has been sent to 14 days police custody.

4. The Additional Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, Mr Arindam Niyogi, has said that more than 31 lakhs people may be called for hearing in the claims and objection phase of the SIR process in West Bengal.

1. The Indian Army has deployed an Engineer Task Force to Sri Lanka to assist in rebuilding critical infrastructure damaged by the cyclone. Working alongside the Sri Lankan Army and the Road Development Authority, Indian engineers have begun preparations at key sites, including Chilaw and Kilinochchi in northern Sri Lanka. Damaged bridges have been de-launched, and Bailey bridges are being installed to quickly restore road connectivity in affected regions.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army has intensified patrols in the higher reaches of the Jammu region to prevent infiltration and maintain constant vigil over sensitive areas along the Line of Control, even as there has been an absence of heavy snowfall.

3. Indian Navy will commission its second MH-60R helicopter squadron, INAS 335 (Ospreys), at INS Hansa in Goa on the 17th December. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, will also be present on the occasion.
