1. Over 134 crore 53 lakh doses of COVID vaccine administered in country so far. out of the total vaccination, more than 81 crore 91 lakh vaccine doses have been administered as first dose, while over 52 crore 61 lakh doses have been administered as second dose. As part of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, Centre is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them COVID vaccines free of cost.
2. Over 140 crore 38 lakh vaccine doses provided to States, UTs so far.
3. Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla announced on 14 Dec that his company has planned to launch a COVID vaccine for children in the next six months. He also said the vaccine ‘Covovax’ is under trial and would offer protection to children till three years.

5. The civil aviation ministry has received ‘in-principle’ approval for setting up 21 greenfield airports across the country, the ministry informed the parliament on Monday. Out of these 21 airports, eight airports have been operationalized.
6. IndiGo has signed an agreement with Dehradun-based Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIRIIP) to manufacture and deploy sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) globally.

8.HIMACHAL : One hundred meritorious students would be provided financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh by the Himachal Pradesh Government to pursue coaching for seeking admission in prestigious institutes of higher education under the “Swaran Jayanti Super-100” scheme for the academic session 2021-22.

J&K : National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on 13 Dec condoled the death of two policemen in a terror attack in Srinagar and asked the govt to hold talks with Pakistan to find a way to bring peace in the region. He said both India and Pakistan should “shed their egos” and come forward for dialogue.
10. Two policemen were killed and 12 others injured as terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police personnel on the outskirts of Srinagar on 13 Dec, the 20th anniversary of the Parliament Attack.
11. MAHARASHTRA : The judicial custody of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been extended till December 27 in an alleged ₹100-crore extortion case. Deshmukh is lodged in the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai. He was arrested in connection to the case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on November 2.
12. MUMBAI Schools will be reopened on December 15, 2021. As per the reopening announcement, schools will reopen from for classes 1 to 7. However, COVID protocols will have to be followed in school premises all the time.
13. MIZORAM CM Zoramthanga said that his govt would continue to make efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Myanmar nationals who fled their country following a military coup and took refuge in the north-eastern state.

15. TELANGANA CM K Chandrashekhar Rao met his Tamil Nadu counterpart MK Stalin in Chennai on 13 Dec.
16. It is being stated that KCR has extended an invite to MK Stalin for the grand opening of the Yadadri Temple in Telangana, work of which is said to be completed in March 2022. The major renovation project had been undertaken by the TRS Government in a bid to build a magnificent temple in Yadadri to match the one at Tirumala Tirupathi.

19. WEST BENGAL: The Calcutta High Court granted eight weeks’ time to the Centre to file its reply to a petition seeking Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s picture on currency notes like that of Mahatma Gandhi.
20. The Centre earned nearly Rs 8.02 lakh crore from taxes on petrol and diesel during the last three fiscal years, of which more than Rs 3.71 lakh crore was collected in FY21 alone, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed Parliament.
21. The excise duty on petrol rose from Rs 19.48 per litre as on October 5, 2018 to Rs 27.90 a litre as on November 4, 2021. The duty on diesel rose from Rs 15.33 a litre to Rs 21.80 during the same period, Sitharaman said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
22. Actor Kangana Ranaut will not face arrest till January 25 over her social media post that allegedly linked farmers’ protests to a separatist group, the Mumbai police told the Bombay High Court.
23. A Sikh organisation had filed a complaint at Khar police station in Mumbai claiming that Ms Ranaut, through her Instagram post, had portrayed the farmers’ protest on Delhi borders as a Khalistani movement.

28. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on 13 Dec tested a long-range Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo (SMART). The test was done off the coast of Balasore in Odisha.
29. ‘India may become first in line to buy Russian air defence system S-500::
The S-500 Prometey (Russian: C-500), also known as 55R6M “Triumfator-M”, is a Russian surface-to-air missile/anti-ballistic missile system intended to replace the A-135 missile system currently in use, and supplement the S-400. The S-500 was developed by the Almaz-Antey Air Defence Concern. Initially planned to be in production by 2014, finally first delivered in 2021.
30. India exported defence equipment worth ₹8,434.84 crore in 2020-21 compared to ₹1,940.64 crore in 2014-15, the Ministry of Defence said in reply to a question in Parliament on 13 Dec.

At the event, the Defence Minister interacted with Indian war veterans and Mukti Jodhas of Bangladesh as a part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebration. During his address, Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the brave soldiers, sailors & air warriors who ensured victory in the 1971 war.
33. Indonesia seeks Indian defence tech, pushes for joint production amid Chinese belligerence. The proposed initiatives are being planned on Indonesian territory as that would enable it to acquire skills in defence technology. In 2018, Indonesia and India held the First Indonesia-India Security Dialogue (IISD-1) in New Delhi. National security adviser Ajit Kumar Doval is hoping that the second security dialogue can be held in near future.
