1. President Droupadi Murmu addresses nation on the eve of 76th Independence Day
President & Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar greeted people on the occasion of Independence Day.
2. Nation to celebrate 76th Independence day tomorrow; PM to hoist National Flag and address nation from ramparts of Red Fort.
After being unfurled, the Tricolour will receive a ‘Rashtriya Salute’. The Air Force band, consisting of 20 men will play the National Anthem during the unfurling of the National Flag and presenting of the ‘Rashritya Salute’. The unfurling the National Flag will be synchronised with the 21 Gun Salute fired by the valiant gunners of the elite 8711 Field Battery (Ceremonial).
As soon as the National Flag is unfurled by the Prime Minister, flower petals will be showered at the venue in Amrit Formation by two MI-17 1V Helicopters and thereafter the Prime Minister will address the Nation. At the conclusion of the speech of the Prime Minister, the cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will sing the National Anthem. Seven hundred ninety-two NCC cadets from different schools across the country will take part

4. HOW TO DISPOSE OF THE TRICOLOUR
Many individuals are unaware of the code that has been established for the correct disposal of the Indian national flag. The national flag should always be disposed of with dignity because it is a sign of pride.
All damaged flags should be gathered, folded, and put in a wooden box & is to be buried in the ground at safe & clean location.
Second alternative (burning). Fold the flags that have been damaged. They must be properly positioned in the centre of the flames after starting a fire. It is illegal to burn a flag without folding it or to light it before setting it ablaze.

10. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched 75 homestays to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence in partnership with OYO. Under the project ‘Crown of Incredible India’, the homestays will be owned by self-help group members of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM). Manoj Sinha added that OYO and JKRLM would build 200 more homestays by December 2022.

12. The first multiplex theatre in Kashmir is set to open in the Valley’s Sonawar area in early September. According to the owner, the complex will have three movie halls with a total capacity of 520 seats and multiple food courts. The building has come up at the site where the Broadway single-screen theatre used to be located.
13. MAHARASHTRA CM Eknath Shinde allocated portfolios to his newly appointed ministers in the State Cabinet. The Chief Minister has kept with him eight portfolios including General Administration, Urban Development, Relief and Rehabilitation, Irrigation and Minority Affairs.
The all-important portfolios of Home, Finance and Planning has been allocated to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Apart from this, Law and Justice, Water Resource, Housing, Power and Protocol department have also been allocated to Mr. Fadnavis.

15. TAMIL NADU : Union Minister of Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the new headquarters for the Siddha Central Research Institute at Tambaram, near Chennai.

1. President Droupadi Murmu extended Independence Day greetings to the armed forces, to the members of Indian missions abroad, and to the Indian diaspora who continue to make their motherland proud.
2. On the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day, 347 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) were awarded to police personnel, with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) receiving 109 medals, the highest of any paramilitary or state police force.
J&K Police received 108 PMGs, the highest among states and UTs.
POLICE MEDALS : A total of one thousand 82 Police personnel have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of Independence Day, 2022.
3. President’s Medals awarded to Fire Service, Home Guards & Civil Defence personnel on the occasion of Independence Day.
4. The mortal remains of a soldier who was part of Operation Meghdoot in Siachen in 1984, were found at a bunker on Saturday. Lance Naik Chandra Shekhar from Uttarakhand’s Haldwani had gone missing during the operation 38 years ago. His family, who were informed of the discovery on Sunday, are expected to get his mortal remains on Tuesday.
