Election Commission of India

1. Election Commission of India on Tuesday delisted 86 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPP) that were found to be non-existent.

Further, it declared 253 RUPPs as ‘inactive’, noting that they’ve not contested a single election either to the state general Assembly or the Parliament election 2014 and 2019. The EC barred these parties from availing benefits of Elections Symbol Order.

2. National Logistics Policy will be released by PM Modi on 17 Sept. The policy is aimed at facilitating the seamless movement of goods across India.

3. PETA has written to the Centre asking for a ban on the breeding, selling and keeping of dogs like Pitbulls, which are bred for fighting and racing.

16. NAGALAND : The Centre asked the Nagaland lawmakers’ panel, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, to resolve the remaining core issues delaying the Naga peace process. Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with 11 members of the panel, seeking a final solution before the state assembly polls due next year.

1. WEST BENGAL : The clashes were reported in Kolkata and Howrah as police tried to block a BJP march to Nabanna. The march was carried out in protest against the alleged corrupt practices of the TMC govt.

2. UTTAR PRADESH : 17 people were awarded life imprisonment by a court in UP’s Hamirpur on Tuesday in a 28-year-old double-murder case. The case pertained to the murder of Jaswant and Motilal on March 15, 1994. Of the 25 people originally accused of killing the duo, five died during the course of the trial while three others are still absconding.

1. Financial services platform BharatPe has appointed former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor BP Kanungo and Zomato Chairman Kaushik Dutta as independent directors to its board of directors. BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer said that the company plans to go public in the next 2-3 years. Last month, BharatPe appointed former finance head of SBI Cards, Nalin Negi, as CFO.

2. JSW Steel has signed an agreement with Germany-based engineering and technology company SMS group to explore solutions to cut down carbon emissions at its plants. JSW Steel will reportedly invest around $1.3 billion for the same. It targets to bring down GHG emissions by 42% to less than 1.95 tonnes of carbon dioxide per tonne of crude steel by 2030.

3. Bajaj Holdings & Investment Ltd has said that its board has approved an interim dividend of ₹110 per equity share of the face value of ₹10 for the financial year ending March 31, 2023.

4. Coal Ministry on Tuesday conducted e-auction of eight mines of five states under commercial coal mining auction. Total coal reserves of these mines are two thousand 157 million tonnes which are situated in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.

ENTERTAINMENT

1. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) rejected a complaint against the proposed merger of PVR and INOX Leisure. The CCI said that apprehension of the likelihood of the anti-competitive practices cannot be subjected to inquiry. A complaint was filed by non-profit group CUTS stating that the proposed deal will have anti-competitive effects on the industry and demanded a detailed probe.

2. The makers of ‘Adipurush’ will launch the teaser of the film at a “grand on-ground event” in Ayodhya on October 3, according to a report. Directed by Om Raut, the film will feature Prabhas as Lord Ram, Saif Ali Khan as Ravan and Kriti Sanon as Sita. ‘Adipurush’ will release in theatres on January 12, 2023.

2. The Assam govt has decided to demarcate an Army firing range in Tamulpur district, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said. He added that this is being done to reduce incidents of injury or death and damage to property in the test firings.

The sixth edition of Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2022 (JIMEX 22) hosted by the Indian Navy began in the Bay of Bengal on September 11.The Indian Navy is represented by three indigenously designed and built warships, Sahyadri, a multi-purpose stealth frigate and Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvettes Kadmatt and Kavaratti.
