1. Polling concluded peacefully for the first phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand. Nearly 66% voter turnout. Voting also held for by polls in 31 Assembly constituencies in 10 states and Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala. Polling in Jharkhand in the second phase will take place for 38 seats on 20th of this month.

2. Maharashtra will go to the polls on the 20th November. Counting of votes will be held on the 23rd of November.

3. The 43rd Edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) will begin at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi tomorrow. The theme of this year’s fair is Viksit Bharat in 2047.

9. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will begin the 26-day-long celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the Congress government on Thursday with a public meeting of welfare hostel students at LB Stadium. Around 14,000 students from across the state will attend the event.

10. Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has introduced three important bills in the State Legislative Assembly aimed at strengthening local governance and addressing the needs of government employees.

(a) bill to enhance the age of superannuation of judicial officers from 60 years to 61 years with effect from 1 November 2024.

(b) AP government had enacted a law disqualifying persons with more than two children from contesting local body elections.

(c) the government has reviewed the population policy and is amending the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, enabling people with more than two children to contest elections for panchayat raj institutions, namely gram panchayats, mandal praja parishads and zilla praja parishads

11. Uttarakhand is witnessing important developments in sports infrastructure. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently inaugurated three major schemes worth ₹13.78 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance sports facilities in the region and inspire youth engagement in athletics.

12. The 43rd Indian International Trade Fair will kick off at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan from November 14 to November 27. While the fair will be open to business visitors from November 14 to November 18, the general public can attend from November 19 onwards. 1. The Supreme Court of India has ruled, the executive cannot act as the judiciary in determining the guilt of individuals by demolishing their properties. In a significant judgment on pleas challenging the bulldozer action by authorities against accused individuals, the court stated that any demolition without proper authorization would be considered arbitrary.

2. Himachal Pradesh High Court today quashed the appointment of six Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPSs) and declared the law under which the appointments were made as void. A division bench of the high court comprising Justices Vivek Thakur and B C Negi also directed that all the facilities and privileges of these CPSs be withdrawn with immediate effect.

3. A medical oncologist at the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital was stabbed atleast seven times on Wednesday by the son of a patient allegedly over grievances regarding the treatment of his mother at the same facility, a hospital.

4. Delhi high court has set aside the Centre’s order cancelling the Overseas Citizen of India card of a professor residing in the US on the allegation of being involved in “anti-India activities”, saying the notice lacks specific details or evidence supporting these claims.

Kanguva movie is released theatrically today on 14 November 2024 in standard, 3D and IMAX formats. The film was initially scheduled to release on 10 October 2024, coinciding the occasion of Dusshera, but was postponed to avoid a box-office clash with Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan.

Kanguva (Man with the Power of Fire) is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language epic fantasy action film directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green, together with UV Creations. The film stars Suriya in dual roles, alongside Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley.

1. The UK has approved an important military project. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has endorsed the Global Combat Aircraft Programme (GCAP). This initiative involves collaboration with Italy and Japan. It aims to develop a sixth-generation stealth fighter jet.

2. The Indian Navy will conduct the 4th edition of the Coastal Defence Exercise ‘Sea-Vigil-24’ from the 21st to the 22nd of this month. The two-day exercise will span both in terms of geographical reach and the magnitude of participation, involving six ministries and 21 organizations and agencies.

3. The Indian Army is set to complete the evaluation and full-spectrum testing of Zorawar light battle tank, designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in 2025.This tank is specifically engineered for operations in high-altitude regions, particularly in eastern Ladakh.

4. The Indian government has deployed an additional 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to Manipur following a resurgence of violence in the region. This deployment, which includes approximately 2,000 personnel, is primarily aimed at restoring order and ensuring security after recent attacks that have escalated tensions in the area.

5. The Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) of P-7 Parachute System has been handed over to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) by the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra, a DRDO laboratory. Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat handed over the AHSP in a ceremony held at DRDO Bhawan.
