Karnataka Assembly election, 2023 :
Congress wins Karnataka elections with clear majority, to decide on CM on Sunday. Helped by a nearly five per cent vote swing in its favour, the Congress with a vote share of 42.88 per cent bagged 135 out of the 224 seats
1. PM Modi has congratulated the Congress Party for its victory in the Karnataka Assembly polls.
2. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai resigned from the post on Saturday after Congress won the Karnataka Assembly election.

(a) Ruckus broke out at Karnataka’s Jayanagar Assembly constituency amid recounting of votes. Incumbent MLA Sowmya Reddy was first declared as the winner by 160 votes against BJP’s CK Ramamurthy. Later, Ramamurthy demanded recounting. As per reports, the counting went on for five rounds and this is the only seat in the 224-member House where the results haven’t been declared yet.
(b) Over 2.6 lakh voters used the ‘none of the above’ or NOTA option in the Karnataka Assembly election held on May 10, the Election Commission data revealed.
(c) BJP leader and Karnataka CM Basavaraj S Bommai retained the Shiggaon seat in Karnataka
(d) Congress stalwart and former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah won the Varuna seat, seen as his home turf, by over 46,000 .
(e) Karnataka former CM and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has won the Channapatna seat in the state Assembly elections. Kumaraswamy won the seat by defeating BJP leader CP Yogeshwara by a margin of over 15,000 votes.
(f) BJP candidate Mahesh Tenginakai has won the Hubli-Dharwad-Central seat in the Karnataka Assembly elections against former CM and Congress candidate Jagadish Shettar by a margin of 34,289 votes.
(g) Karnataka former CM BS Yediyurappa’s son Vijayendra has won from the Shikaripura seat in the state Assembly elections. Vijayendra won the seat by defeating Independent candidate SP Nagarajagowda by over 11,000 votes
3. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar launched the third Semicon India future design roadshow at IIT Delhi.
4. Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge called upon the Congress workers to get ready for the 2024 Lok Sabha election after winning Karnataka.
5. Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Zubin Irani inaugurated a two-day orientation-cum-training programme for Hajj deputationists. A total of 468 deputationists have been chosen for medical and administrative duties to facilitate the movement of one lakh 75 lakh pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage.
6. The BJP won all 17 mayoral seats in the Uttar Pradesh urban local body elections held on May 4 and May 11. The polls were held to elect 17 mayors and 1,401 corporators, and 19 corporators were elected unopposed. “Compared to 2017, BJP has won more than double seats in urban local body polls this year,” CM Yogi Adityanath said.
7. Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said the state government would celebrate the Telangana Formation Day for 21 days, starting June 2, to celebrate a decade of statehood.
8. AAP’s Sushil Kumar Rinku has won the key bye-election to the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency. The election was necessitated after the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary while participating in the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in January. Congress fielded Chaudhary’s wife Karamjit Kaur, while BJP’s candidate was Inder Iqbal Atwal.
9. BJP ally Apna Dal (Soneylal) candidate Shafeek Ahmed Ansari defeated Samajwadi Party’s Anuradha Chauhan by 8,724 votes in Uttar Pradesh’s Suar Assembly seat.
10. BJP won the Mayor election in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi after defeating Congress on Saturday. BJP candidate Bihari Lal Arya bagged 1,23,503 votes.

1. Indian Naval Aviation has achieved 90 % of indigenisation in the category of non-flight-critical components and it was looking for capable industry partners to build more numbers of flight-critical and mission-critical components.
2. Agni Prime Missile India is likely to conduct a missile test from Abdul Kalam island, off the coast of Odisha in the Indian Ocean, next month.The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by India suggests that the test will be conducted between 7 to 8 June, and the missile is supposed to fly out to more than 1,680 km.
3. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is likely to launch NVS-01, a navigation satellite on-board the Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle or GSLV MK-II, on May 29.
4. India’s TEJAS MK-2 project is intended to provide the Indian Air Force (IAF) with a more advanced version of the TEJAS MK-1 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). The aircraft’s key role is to give the IAF the ability to wield a wide range of stand-off weapons.
