1. Centre approved ₹1,816 crore of additional aid to five states under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). According to a Home Ministry statement, ₹520.466 crore was approved for Assam, ₹239.31 crore for Himachal Pradesh, ₹941.04 crore for Karnataka, ₹47.326 crore for Meghalaya and ₹68.02 crore for Nagaland. 7. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said e-rupee worth over ₹130 crore is in circulation on a pilot basis, as of February 28. She added that nine banks, including the State Bank of India and Kotak Mahindra Bank, have been participating in the digital rupee wholesale pilot. The RBI launched a pilot of digital rupee in the wholesale segment in November.

1. Army soldiers will now finally get modern assault rifles in bulk. The long-pending project to manufacture over six lakh AK-203 Kalashnikov rifles at the Korwa ordnance factory in Amethi district of UP has kicked off.
Kalashnikov AK-203 rifles for Indian armed forces are currently under manufacturing and testing stage at an Indo-Russian joint venture at Korwa in Uttar Pradesh.
2. The Government today said that the expenditure on defence procurement from foreign sources has reduced from 46 percent of the overall expenditure in 2018-19 to 36.7 percent till December 2022.
3. Indian government has set a target of achieving defence manufacturing worth Rs 1,75,000 crore, including defence exports of Rs 35,000 crore by 2024-25. Minister of state for Defence Ajay Bhatt said.
4. Indian Navy’s guided missile frigate INS Sahyadri joined two frontline warships of France in carrying out a two-day maritime partnership exercise in the Arabian Sea on March 11 and 12.

6. Supreme Court has asked the Ministry of Defence to immediately withdraw its January 20 communication which said OROP arrears will be paid in four instalments. The court said the Ministry cannot take law in its own hands. The court also said, “We want…older people should be paid the arrears first. Over four lakh pensioners have died since the litigation started.”
