centre to roll out free booster dose for 75 days from july 15

14. *ASSAM* : 3 more people die of Japanese Encephalitis in Assam, death toll rises to 16.
Three more people have died due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Assam. The state reported 17 more cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of cases to 121 since July 1.

15. *HIMACHAL* : Three people were killed and three others sustained injuries after the truck in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti district on Wednesday.

16. *KARNATAKA* : The Supreme Court will hear the petitions challenging the Karnataka High Court order on hijab ban next week. On March 15, the Karnataka High Court passed a judgement stating that wearing hijab was not an essential religious practice.

17. *MADHYA PRADESH* government will organise a ‘Youth Mahapanchayat’ in Bhopal on July 23 and 24.

1. RBI imposes restrictions, withdrawal caps on 4 banks. They are,
a. Ramgarhia Co-Operative Bank of Delhi,
b. Sahebrao Deshmukh Co-operative Bank of Mumbai,
c. Sangli Co-operative Bank and
d. Sharda Mahila Co-operative Bank of Karnataka

According to reports, RBI has banned these four banks for 6 months. This restriction is effective from 8 July 2022. These restrictions on banks have been imposed under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

2. Electric Vehicle startup Ather Energy said that they generated ₹408.5 crore in revenue for FY22, up 411.9% compared to ₹79.8 crore in the previous fiscal.

1. A special court for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act cases in Mumbai on Wednesday allowed Aryan Khan’s plea seeking his passport back.

DEFENCE:

1. The 16th round of Corps Commander-level meeting between India and China is likely to be held on July 17.

2. Ministry of Defence sets target of one lakh 75 thousand crore rupees of defence production by 2025.

3. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has exhorted the Non-Official Directors (NODs) of Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) to ensure smooth implementation of various initiatives taken by the government towards achieving ‘Aatmanirbharta in Defence’.

4. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recovered arms and ammunition from Naxals in Bihar’s Gaya last week, the force said on Wednesday. CoBRA commandos of the CRPF recovered over 600 improvised explosive devices (IED) and 495 detonators during the anti-Naxal operation, an official said. One AK series of rifle and 250 rounds of ammunition were also recovered.

5. India on Wednesday successfully flight-tested the indigenously- developed High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT), ABHYAS from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur off the Odisha coast.

ABHYAS is a 75-kg drone, Developed and designed by DRDO, will be used as a target for various missile systems. Capable of attaining an altitude of more than five kilometres at half the speed of sound, it can also be used as a decoy aircraft.

1. The customs department at Indira Gandhi International Airport has arrested an Indian couple returning from Vietnam after they were found to be in possession of 45 handguns worth Rs 22.5 lakh. In a preliminary report, the National Security Guard, after examination, confirmed that the guns are fully functional and can be used with .22 calibre.

2. The Supreme Court’s verdict in the contempt case against fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya also directs his three children to return a total of USD 40 million which were transferred to them through trusts in 2016. The apex court has termed the transactions “void and inoperative”.

3. The CBI has taken over the investigation into the alleged killing of BJP activist Prasenjit Das in Kolkata amid the post-poll violence in West Bengal in 2021. Das was found hanging outside his residence by his mother last year.
