1. Happy MAKAR SANKRANTI It is an Indian festival that marks the end of winter solstice and transition of the sun from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere. People celebrate Sun’s transit from Dhanu rashi to the Makara rashi (zodiac sign Capricorn), by paying their respects to the Sun God and offering prayers for a good harvest season. The Digital exhibition will remain open free of charge for the public till the 26th of next month.

13. National Test Agency, NTA has postponed the UGC NET December 2024 exam which was earlier scheduled on Wednesday. In a statement, NTA said, it has received representations to postpone the UGC NET examination on account of Pongal, Makar Sankranti and other festivals on 15th January. The new date of exam will be announced later. NTA said, the examination on 16th January will be conducted as per the earlier schedule.

The Delhi High Court has questioned the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government for the delay in the submission of a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the liquor scam to the Assembly Speaker. The scam led to the arrests of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and senior leader Manish Sisodia.

1. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is under control and the region is witnessing a gradual shift from terrorism to tourism. General Dwivedi stated this during the Annual Press Conference of the Indian Army in New Delhi.

Nearly a month after the famous portrait of Pakistan Army’s 1971 surrender at the Army Chief’s annexe in South Block was replaced with an art piece depicting Ladakh’s Pangong Tso lake, military paraphernalia and Hindu iconography, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Upendra Dwivedi Monday stressed the importance of symbolism, especially with respect to the Army’s vision.
3. Soldiers posted at Siachen glacier, the highest battlefield in the world, can now enjoy high-speed internet services, a telecom company said. In the run-up to Army Day on January 15, Reliance Jio, in collaboration with the Indian Army, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by extending its 4G and 5G network to the Siachen glacier, the company said.
