Today, on the last day of withdrawal of nomination, she was declared unopposed winner. The Returning Officer has handed over the certificate of victory to Rekha Sharma. Her term will last till 2028.
11. In Maharashtra, Ashwini Bhide (IAS), the Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions to likely continue over Northwest and Central India during the next 2 to 3 days.

1. Reliance Industries and ROSNEFT Sign Historic Oil Supply Agreement: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has finalized a monumental 10-year agreement with Russia’s state-owned oil giant ROSNEFT, marking the largest energy deal in the history of India-Russia relations. This deal involves the supply of nearly 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil, accounting for approximately 0.5% of global oil.
2. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $500 million loan to support India’s efforts to expand renewable energy and build climate-resilient infrastructure.

1. Telugu star Allu Arjun has been detained by the Hyderabad Police in connection with a tragic stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2. The incident occurred on December 4 when a stampede-like situation happened at the premiere show of his latest film, at a theatre in Hyderabad.
The High Court granted an interim bail for four weeks to the film actor Allu Arjun over a quash petition filed by the actor in a case relating to stampede which led to the death of a woman and injuring her son. The court also directed the actor for a personal bond of 50 thousand rupees.
2. The 22nd Divya Kala Mela, inaugurated by Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar at India Gate, New Delhi, from December 12-22, 2024, showcases the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of Divyangjan.

1. The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has successfully concluded its 12th Joint Military Training (JMT) exercise with the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Kalaikunda Air Force Station in West Bengal. This significant event, which began on 22 October 2024, and lasted for seven weeks, focused on enhancing interoperability and operational readiness.
2. On 12 December 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) of India approved significant defence projects worth approximately ₹20,000 crore (around $2.4 billion) under the “Make in India” initiative. This includes the procurement of 100 K-9 Vajra self-propelled howitzers and 12 Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets for the Indian Armed Forces.
The order for the K-9 Vajra, a 155 mm/52 calibre tracked self-propelled howitzer, will be fulfilled by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) at its Hazira facility in Gujarat.
3. In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Friday, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said, Only 19 Indians remain in the Russian Armed Forces. As a result of concerted efforts by the Government, most of the Indian nationals in the Russian armed forces have been discharged and several have been repatriated to India.
4. Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) organised a one-day Workshop on the theme, Energizing Semiconductor Ecosystem to Make India Self-Reliant in IC Chip Manufacturing.
5. A Bangladeshi delegation is expected to participate in the 53rd Vijay Diwas celebrations in Kolkata on 16 December 2024. This event commemorates the Indian Armed Forces’ victory over Pakistan during the 1971 Liberation War, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
6. The Yantar Shipyard announced that the second stealth frigate for the Indian Navy, named INS Tamal, is scheduled for delivery in spring 2025. This follows the recent commissioning of the first frigate from the Talwar Batch III class, INS Tamal.
7. India and Thailand are set to enhance their defence collaboration by exploring co-production of military hardware. On 12 December 2024, both countries agreed to establish a joint working group aimed at effectively steering this initiative. This decision reflects a broader commitment to deepen defence ties, which have been growing steadily over the years.
