11. *MADHYA PRADESH* : Army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel reached Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Saturday after an under-construction dam on the Karam river was breached. The government said water from the reservoir was being safely drained out to reduce pressure on its wall. People from 18 downstream villages have been preemptively shifted to safer areas.

12. *PUNJAB* Animal Husbandry Department has said that more than 2,100 cattle have died while over 60,000 were affected by lumpy skin disease in the state. The disease infects cows and buffaloes leading to the formation of lumps on the animal’s skin.

13. *TELANGANA* : Around 200 children participated in the National Flag rally led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Hyderabad’s Hamidullah Nagar.

1. *UP* : The main accused in the last month’s meat dumping incident at a temple in Kannauj’s Talgram town in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested, police said

2. *J&K* : administration on Saturday sacked four government employees for alleged links with terror groups. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front’s (JKLF) terror-accused chief Bitta Karate’s wife Assabha Arzoomand Khan and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s son Syed Abdul Mueed are reportedly among them. Khan was a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service officer. Mueed worked as an IT manager.

3. *MAHARASHTRA* caste scrutiny committee gave a clean chit to former NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede in caste certificate case stating he wasn’t a Muslim by birth. “It’s not proven Wankhede and his father converted to Islam…they belonged to Mahar-37 Scheduled Caste,” the order reads.

4. *TELANGANA* : Two fake companies allegedly cheated Hyderabad’s Balanagar branch of Canara Bank of ₹2.71 crore by taking loans and not repaying them. A company AFS Constructions reportedly took a loan of ₹1.3 crore from the bank and officials later found that this was a fictional company. Similarly, ₹1.41 crore was given to Tirumala Enterprises Civil Engineering company based on fake documents.

The CCI has approved the proposal of merger of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) and HDFC Bank. The board of HDFC had approved the merger of the firm with HDFC Bank in April this year. Following the merger, HDFC Bank will be 100% owned by public shareholders and existing shareholders of HDFC Limited will own 41% of HDFC Bank.

1. India will be awarding newly minted “special” medals to its bravest citizens on the 75th year of the country’s independence. There is a tradition of giving out such medals to the armed forces and central armed police forces every 25 years. According to details of an exclusive preview, the new medal will have the Ashoka Lion on the front and Ashoka Chakra on the back. It will be released on August 15, a perfect finishing touch to celebrations centred around the Centre’s flagship, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme.

2. Sri Lanka on Saturday granted permission to Chinese vessel Yuan Wang-5, widely believed to be a spy ship, to dock at its Hambantota port.

3. The Philippine government has cancelled a deal to purchase 16 Russian military helicopters. Philippine officials said they ended the deal because they feared U.S. sanctions.

4. Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Taimur has arrived at the port of Colombo and will conduct a joint exercise with the Sri Lankan Navy in the western seas, according to Sri Lankan media.The 134m-long Chinese-built frigate warship PNS Taimur was commanded by Captain M Yasir Tahir .

5. The first of two maritime patrol aircrafts that Sri Lanka is acquiring from India after a protracted negotiation process will arrive at Katunayake Air Force base next Monday (15th Aug 2022) according to officials familiar with the development.
