7. Union Cabinet has approved the policy for use of land acquired under the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act – CBA Act, 1957. This has been done with the objectives of facilitating utilization of lands which are mined out or are practically unsuitable for coal mining and for increasing investment and job creation in coal sector.

8. After violence in Khargone city and Barwani district on Ram Navami, the Madhya Pradesh govt has issued an alert to the authorities in all districts for the upcoming festivals.

9. The Central Public Works Department will transplant 487 trees for the construction of an ‘Executive Enclave’ as part of the Central Vista redevelopment plan, according to official documents.

The Executive Enclave will house the new Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, India House and National Security Council Secretariat.

10. *ASSAM* : Oil India Limited’s field headquarters in Assam’s Dibrugarh district is facing one of the biggest IT crises as a section of the desktop computers have been shut down after malwares were found in them. The company has filed a case with the Assam Police and has claimed the hackers are 75 lakh dollars.

11. Thirteen people including a child have died in districts of Upper Assam in the past 8-10 days after consuming wild mushrooms which were poisonous, health officials disclosed on Wednesday.

12. *ANDHRA PRADESH* : The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision of diverting ₹1100 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to finance the state’s subsidy scheme for farmers was a “serious” matter. “The money meant for disaster relief cannot be used for any other purpose,” a bench of Justices MR Shah and BV Nagarathna remarked.

13. *J&K* : In a controversial move, police in Kashmir have started taking over private properties used to shelter militants in the India-controlled part of the disputed Himalayan region.

14. *JHARKHAND* : A tragic ropeway accident in Jharkhand’s Deoghar that claimed 5 lives has surfaced after rescue operations were completed by the Indian Air Force.

Two people died during the rescue operations, both fell after slipping during the rescue. Three others had died when the cable cars collided presumably due to a technical glitch. PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to personnel who carried out rescue operation in Jharkhand’s Deoghar.

15. *KERALA* : BJP MP from Rajya Sabha Suresh Gopi on Wednesday claimed the three farm laws, which were repealed by the Centre, will come back. The govt rolled back the laws after continuous protests by farmers.

16. *MAHARASHTRA* : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday said it has attached multiple assets of jailed Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik under the anti-money laundering law in a case against fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his underworld gang.

18. *TELANGANA* is expected to receive summer rains from Thursday. A yellow alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad.

AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has been acquitted by a special court in two criminal cases against him for alleged hate speeches, elder brother and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi claimed in a tweet. Akbaruddin Owaisi, floor leader of AIMIM in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, was facing cases for his alleged hate speeches delivered at Nizamabad and Nirmal in Telangana in December 2012.

The special sessions court for MP/MLAs at Nampally metropolitan courts in Hyderabad acquitted the younger Owaisi brother saying the prosecution failed to produce proper evidence in the cases.

5. The Supreme Court has sought the Centre’s response on a plea seeking repatriation of 54 Indian army officers who have been detained by Pakistan as Prisoners of War since the 1971 war.

The plea filed by Jasbir Kaur, wife of Major Kanwaljit Singh who is among the detainees, also seeks setting up of a domestic and an international mechanism to protect the rights of POWs. The plea also seeks the Court’s directions for investigation into the killing of Captain Saurabh Kalia and four sepoys of Jat Regiment, bodies of whom were returned by Pakistan.

6. The 14th Indo-Australian Navy to Navy talks were held from April 11 to 13 in New Delhi to mark the naval partnership between both the countries.
