1. Shri CP Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India on 12 September 2025, with President Droupadi Murmu administering the oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of top dignitaries.
The NDA candidate won the election with 452 votes, defeating Opposition nominee B. Sudershan Reddy (300 votes), aided by cross-voting including support from 11 YSRCP MPs.

2. Union Home minister Shri Amit Shah launched the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) virtually at Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar airports, expanding this initiative to a total of 13 airports nationwide.

The programme, aligned with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Speed, Scale, and Scope, offers passengers seamless immigration clearance within 30 seconds, eliminating long queues and manual checks.

3. The National Statistics Office (NSO) under MoSPI will conduct two major surveys — the All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) and the Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households — from July 2026 to June 2027.

These nationally representative surveys provide vital data on household finance, indebtedness, assets, and agricultural livelihoods, and are key for evidence-based policymaking by institutions like the RBI, Ministry of Agriculture, and NITI Aayog.

4. Late Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister and noted economist, was posthumously awarded the P V Narasimha Rao Memorial Award for Economics for his pivotal role in India’s economic transformation.
The award, instituted by the PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Foundation (PVNMF), was presented by Montek Singh Ahluwalia and received by Singh’s wife, Gursharan Kaur, in New Delhi.

5. Udaipur was awarded the Ramsar Wetland City Accreditation in 2025. This recognition honours cities excelling in wetland conservation and sustainable management. The award was presented during the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan Awards and Wetland Cities Recognition Ceremony organised by Environment Ministry. Udaipur, known as the ‘City of Lakes’, joined a select global group for its exemplary efforts in protecting urban wetlands.

6. In Ladakh, preparations are underway for the 10th Edition of Zanskar Festival on the 20th and 21st of September. The festival is considered one of the most important cultural events of the region, aimed at preserving and promoting the rich heritage, ethnic diversity, and traditional practices of Ladakh.

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bairabi-Sairang new railway line project today during his visit to Mizoram. The rail line will connect the Capital of Mizoram , Aizawl with the Indian Railways network for the first time in history. Over 51 kilometer rail line has been constructed at a cost of around 8 thousand crore rupees.

8. Namo Bharat becomes India’s fastest train, running at 160 km/h on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor. Covering 55 km of the planned 82.15 km route, it connects Delhi to Meerut in under an hour, surpassing speed caps on Gatimaan Express and Vande Bharat.

9. The Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), in collaboration with Amity University, Noida, organized Purple Fest 2025 on 10-11 September, promoting equality, dignity, and confidence for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).

10. A Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Corner, which will serve as as a hub for information and engagement on standards, was inaugurated at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi (NIT-T) on Thursday.

11. The southwest monsoon is likely to start withdrawing from northwest India around September 15, the India Meteorological Department said.

12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Telangana, Marathwada and North Eastern states.

1. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, on Friday (September 12, 2025), opposed the exemption of atomic mineral mining from public consultation and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the office memorandum issued by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

2. Private professional colleges in Telangana have threatened to shut down indefinitely from September 15 due to fee reimbursement arrears of Rs 8,000 crore. Federation of Associations of Telangana Higher Education (FATHI) submitted a formal closure notice to Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy on Friday.

3. Centre to hold meeting on creating more special courts :
The Union government informed the Supreme Court on Friday (September 12, 2025) that a high-level meeting will be scheduled with representatives of the various Central law enforcement agencies, Chief Secretaries and Home Secretaries of States for the setting up of exclusive courts to expeditiously try offences under special statutes, including the National Intelligence Agency and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Acts.

4. Tourism in the Nilgiris district came to a standstill on Thursday as the Gudalur-Pandalur Traders’ Forum and several farmers’ groups called a 24-hour hartal protesting repeated wildlife attacks.

5. IIT Kharagpur has reversed a controversial rule that had divided hostel dining halls into vegetarian and non-vegetarian seating zones.

The Hall Management Centre has revoked the earlier arrangement and stated that “the segregation of mess food in terms of vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Jain and other categories should be done only at the levels of preparation and distribution. There must not be any such segregation for seating in the dining hall.”

As of July 2025, 12 insurance companies have issued approximately 1,600 ISBs as Bid Security and 207 as Performance Security, totaling around Rs. 10,369 crores.

MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA, an animated film by Hombale Films, completes 50 days in theatres, emerges as a blockbuster with over ₹300 crore worldwide collection. It is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. For an animated film with a budget of just ₹40 crore, the film has defied all expectations and done exceptionally well at the box office.

2. Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja, popularly known as Isaignani, will be felicitated by the MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government as he completes 50 years in the film industry. The star-studded event will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on September 13. Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and several other celebrities are expected to attend the event.

3. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal today interacted with European Union Commissioner for Trade, Maroš Šefčovič and Economic Security Commissioner, Christophe Hansen in New Delhi.

4. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the umbrella organisation that facilitates the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), has announced increased transaction limits for Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments effective September 15, in a major step to enhance the utility of the service.

UPI will now facilitate larger payments in key sectors, making digital transactions more seamless for high-value purchases while maintaining security protocols. Users will be able to execute a transaction of up to Rs 10 lakh in 24 hours for specific, verified merchant categories, solely for Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments.

1. Indian Navy to Commissioned Aravali at Gurugram to Strengthen its Information and Communication Infrastructure.

2. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has begun formal contract negotiations with Indian procurement authorities for Project 75(I), a flagship programme that envisages the construction of six next-generation conventional submarines.

3. The All India Thal Sainik Camp 2025 concluded in Delhi Cantt with the participation of 1,547 cadets from 17 NCC Directorates across India. The 12-day camp featured competitions in weapon firing, map reading, field signals, and health & hygiene, testing cadets’ physical and mental skills. Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, DG NCC, highlighted the camp’s role in fostering discipline, leadership, and camaraderie among youth.

The winning NCC Directorates were Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh (1st boys) and Karnataka & Goa (1st girls).
