1. The festival of Vijayadashmi or Dussehra is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across the country. The festival is celebrated to remember Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana, marking the triumph of good over evil. The day also marks the culmination of Navratri and Durga Puja.

11. Manipur, the number of Dengue positive cases has crossed one thousand three hundred so far and the State Government has intensified preventive and containment measures in affected districts.
12. The Uttar Pradesh government will soon convene a high-level meeting to ensure compliance of the ban on using tractor trolleys for passenger transportation. The decision has been made in the wake of a spate of mishaps featuring passenger-travel on tractor trolleys.
13. Hydrogen Train India: The Ministry of Railways envisaged operating 35 Hydrogen trains under “Hydrogen for Heritage” on various heritage and hill routes. In the financial year 2023-24, the Ministry of Railways allocated an amount of Rs 2800 crore for the development of 35 hydrogen fuel cell-based trains.

1. In West Bengal, senior doctors will go on cease-work for 48 hours from 6 AM on Monday, showing support and solidarity with the junior doctors on hunger strike with 10-point demands. Dr Swarodyot Mukherjee informed this on behalf of the Joint Platform of Doctors, West Bengal.
2. Manipur Police called for public support to combat extortion and illegal activities in the state. The newly established anti-extortion unit, with 15 crack teams and CRPF deployment, has arrested over 370 individuals. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious activities, promising confidentiality.
3. The Union Government has released the first instalment of the Fifteenth Finance Commission grants over 988 crore rupees for the financial year 2024-25 to the Rural Local Bodies in Andhra Pradesh. The state has received untied grants amounting to 395 crore rupees and tied grants totalling 593 crore rupees.
4. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Haryana government to withdraw security provided to IAS officers who are not engaged in crucial administrative or semi-judicial duties.

7. Former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba passed away this evening at the NIMS, Hyderabad. He was 57. He was imprisoned in the Nagpur Central Jail in an alleged Maoist links case, suffered complications after gall bladder surgery.

1. The Income Tax Department has collected over 13 lakh 57 thousand crore rupees as direct tax for the financial year 2024-25 so far. The collection includes personal income tax of over seven lakh crore rupees and corporate tax of over six lakh crore rupees. The department has also issued refunds of over two lakh 31 thousand crore rupees.
2. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited becomes 14th Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise.
3. The Reserve Bank of India imposed monetary penalties on four cooperative banks worth Rs 9 lakh. These banks are Parwanoo Urban Cooperative Bank, Sonbhadra Nagar Sahakari Bank, Jaihind Urban Cooperative Bank and Mansing Cooperative Bank.

1. Defence minister Rajnath Singh yesterday performed Shastra Puja at Sukna cantonment, Darjeeling on the occasion of Bijoya Dashami and celebrated the festival with army jawans. He participated in traditional weapon worship or Shastra Puja in the Indian army’s 33 Corps Headquarters
