1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu arrives on three-day visit to the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. On the first day of her tour, the President will visit the Aviary at Jampore, Government Engineering College and NIFT Campus in Daman. On the second day, she will visit NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute in Silvassa.

2. In Jharkhand, elaborate security arrangements have been made for the first phase of the Assembly elections. Forty-three constituencies will go to the polls in this phase today. Polling will begin at 7 am and continue until 5 pm.

3. Preparations also complete for the by-polls in 33 assembly constituencies across 11 states. These include seven seats in Rajasthan, Six in West Bengal, five seats in Assam, four in Bihar, three seats in Karnataka, and two each in Madhya Pradesh and Sikkim. Besides these, Assembly by-polls will also take place for one seat each in Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Meghalaya. Voting for by-election to Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala will also be held today.

4. Second phase of polling will be held on the 20th of this month in 38 constituencies. Counting of votes will be taken up on the 23rd of November.

5. Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the 66th All India Kalidas Samaroh in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Darbhanga, Bihar today and inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth around 12 thousand 100 crore rupees in the state. In a major boost to health infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS, Darbhanga worth over 1260 crore rupees.

7. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure area is set to develop in the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, and it is expected to move slowly westward toward the Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka coasts over the following two days.

1. In Manipur, security forces have recovered the bodies of two civilians amid ongoing rescue operations to ensure the safety of the remaining six abducted civilians in the Jiribam district. The civilians were abducted by suspected militants.

2. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked e-commerce Food Business Operators (FBOs) to adopt practices that ensure a minimum shelf life of 30 per cent or 45 days before expiry at the time of delivery to the consumer. No FBO can operate on any e-commerce platform without a valid FSSAI license or registration, emphasizing the critical need for regulatory compliance.

3. The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce on November 13 its judgment framing guidelines against illegal, communal and retributive bulldozing of homes and private properties of accused persons by States.

4. Warring Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups staged peaceful bandhs in their respective areas of influence in Manipur on Tuesday following the deaths of at least 10 armed men and two civilians in an attack on a police station and a Central Reserve Police Force camp in Jiribam district, and “abduction” of six civilians.

5. The Delhi High Court, presided by Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri, declined to pause the trial court’s proceedings against Arvind Kejriwal, the former Delhi Chief Minister. This case, initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), accuses Kejriwal of failing to comply with the summons in connection to the Delhi excise policy case.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Denis Manturov in New Delhi. The Finance Ministry said that both the leaders discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral interest and exchanged views on measures to strengthen financial as well as economic ties between India and Russia.

2. India’s renewable energy sector has rapidly evolved over the past decade. The country recently achieved an important milestone of 200 GW in renewable energy capacity. This includes nearly 90 GW from solar power alone.

1. The Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested a budding songwriter for allegedly sending threat messages to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and demanding Rs 5 crore from him in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Youtuber Sohail Pasha, held from Raichur in Karnataka, wanted a song written by him to become famous and used this ploy for the purpose, the police claimed.

2. An MP-MLA court on Tuesday issued a notice to actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on a complaint alleging that she made objectionable remarks against Mahatma Gandhi and the farmers who were agitating against the now-scrapped agri laws, a lawyer claimed.

Rama Shankar Sharma, an advocate, said the court has sought a response from Ranaut on his complaint and has fixed November 28 as the next date of hearing.

3. Kal Ho Na Ho back in theatres: After 21 years, Dharma Productions announced that Nikkhil Advani’s iconic film will be re-released in theatres on November 15. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan in key roles. Film was originally released on 28 Nov 2003.

1. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the maiden flight test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, from a mobile articulated launcher.

2. Armies of India and China have agreed to carry out one coordinated patrol every week in the Demchok and Depsang areas in the eastern Ladakh sector and have already completed one round of patrolling there.

3. The Home Ministry has approved the establishment of the first all-women battalion of CISF in a landmark decision aimed at empowering women and enhancing their role in national security. The proposal for the creation of all-women battalions in the Force was initiated following the direction of Home Minister Amit Shah on the occasion of the 53rd CISF Day function.

4. The government has started the process of procuring all-terrain vehicles for deployment along the northern borders for the Indian Army and issued a request for information for it on Tuesday.

5. India and Nepal are set to conduct their eighth annual border talks in Kathmandu from November 16 to 18, 2024. This meeting will be led by the Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Amrit Mohan Prasad, who will engage with officials from Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF), specifically its Inspector General, Raju Aryal.

6. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has significantly advanced India’s capabilities in chemical and biological defence with the inauguration of a new BSL-4 (Bio-Safety Level-4) laboratory and a Bio-detector, Test & Evaluation Facility at the Defence Research and Development Establishment (DRDE) in Gwalior.
