The Elephant Whisperers, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, has won Best Documentary Short Subject at the 95th Academy Awards

CRIME REPORT

1. Kerala Ex Bureaucrat, M Sivasankar, the former principal secretary to Kerala chief minister, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate In Life Mission Case, Admitted to the prison cell of the hospital. Will remanded in judicial custody till March 21.

2. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at five places in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra in Islamic State- Khorasan Province (ISKP) case.The Central agency carried out these searches on Saturday at four locations in Seoni in Madhya Pradesh and one in Pune.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

1. The 95th Academy Awards ceremony, also called Oscars, is set to take place in Los Angeles.

2. Oscars this time will be extra special for the Indian audience as the country has been nominated in as many as three categories including Best Original Song where RRR’s Naatu Naatu will compete with other global hits.

Naatu Naatu’ composer MM Keeravani has said that he’s confident that his song has the potential to win an Oscar.

DEFENCE

1. The Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with ABV Regional Cancer Centre and Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital in Tripura to provide cashless and capless medical treatment to Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) beneficiaries and their dependents in the state of Tripura. This will include Assam Rifles ECHS Members at CGHS rates.

2. The Indian Navy is going to place orders for acquiring more than 200 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles which would be equipped on all the frontline warships of the maritime force.

The Indo-Russian joint venture company has recently carried out test firings of the missile with a high level of indigenous content and is also goingto equip the missile with an indigenous seeker too.

3. India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is in advanced discussions with Argentina and Egypt for the sale of its Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A. Argentina is interested in acquiring at least 15 aircraft, and Argentine pilots have already tested the fighter jet in India.

4. An IAF helicopter with 20 airmen on board made an emergency landing in Lohawat area of Jodhpur on Sunday afternoon due to some technical glitch. The helicopter had taken off from Jodhpur airbase for Phalodi airbase.

5. Indian Air Force has selected Group Captain Shaliza Dhami to take over command of a frontline combat unit in the Western sector.Group Captain Dhami was commissioned in the year 2003 as a Helicopter pilot and has over 2800 hours of flying experience. A Qualified Flying Instructor, she has served as Flight Commander of a Helicopter Unit in the Western sector.

6. Indian Navy’s indigenously built guided missile frigate, INS Sahyadri participated in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with French Navy (FN) ships FS Dixmude, a Mistral Class Amphibious Assault Ship and FS La Fayette, a La Fayette Class Frigate, in the Arabian Sea.

7. Troops of the Indian Army, along with the local police and administration, have rescued around 900 tourists who were stranded on their way to Gangtok from Nathula and Tsomgo Lake amid heavy snowfall.
