1. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are likely to continue over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand during the next 4 to 5 days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The Southwest Monsoon further advanced into some more parts of Maharashtra, entire Telangana and some more parts of Chhattisgarh yesterday. The IMD has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India during the next 4 to 5 days.

8. Amid water crisis in the national capital, the Delhi government has decided to deploy Additional District Magistrate and Sub Divisional Magistrate level officers in each zone to act as quick response team to provide water tankers and resolution of water related complaints.

The annual Kheer Bhawani Mela, celebrated on Zeisht Ashtami, will be held on June 14 at the shrines of Tulmulla in Ganderbal, Tikker in Kupwara, Laktipora Aishmuqam in Anantnag, Mata Tripursundri Devsar in Kulgam, and Mata Kheerbhawani Manzgam also in Kulgam. This is the biggest festival of Hindus in Kashmir after Amarnath yatra and holds immense significance in J&K.

2. Alert staff of the Indian Railways and the police averted a major rail mishap after recovering a powerful cane bomb placed under the railway track in Gaya district of Bihar on Tuesday. The cane bomb was hidden under the railway track by suspected Maoists near Banskatawa railway station on the Gaya-Koderma section of the East Central Railway (ECR).

Paragraph 3 of the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950, under Article 341, states that “no person who professes a religion different from the Hindu, Sikh, or Buddhist religion shall be deemed to be a member of Scheduled Castes.” Thereby, the Order ceased to recognise a person as the Scheduled Caste if he or she belonged to any religious minority groups.
