4. Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduces redrafted criminal Bills in Lok Sabha to replace the existing British-era criminal laws after withdrawing the three Bills that were introduced in August.

5. The Sanhita along with two other criminal codes — the Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill, 2023 that seek to the replace the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, respectively, were introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 11.

6. The Rajya Sabh passed the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023.

7. The Lok Sabha has passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

8. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has asked aerospace manufacturing majors to present a collaborative plan outlining their requirements from each department of the government, to help them expand supply chains for aerospace manufacturing in India.

9. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has accepted the resignation of Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy. Mr Reddy who had resigned from the membership of the Lower House, belonging to Indian National Congress, was representing Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency. He had won the recent Assembly polls in Telangana from Nalgonda constituency.

10. Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister-designate Dr. Mohan Yadav and his cabinet colleagues will take oath tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders will be present at the swearing-in ceremony.

11. The government said that Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) provides treatment corresponding to a total of 1949 procedures under 27 different specialties like neurology, nephrology, cardiology and general medicine, and neurosurgery among others.

12. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the date sheets for Class 10 and 12 board exams 2024. The class 12 board exams will be conducted from 15th February to 2nd April, while class 10 board exams will be held from 15th February to 13th March.

1. A Parliamentary panel has recommended that legal assistance to Indian nationals imprisoned or arrested in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are provided through a panel of lawyers appointed by the Mission or Post and expenditure on lawyers’ fees is paid from Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICW).

2. Supreme Court upheld the abrogation of Article 370 on 11 December, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir did not retain sovereignty after joining the Union of India.

3. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has condemned and declared false media reports that are being circulated about India’s family planning program and central procurement agency, the Central Medical Services Society (CMSS).

7. The Election Commission on Tuesday revoked the suspension of former Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar. He was suspended on December 3 for violating the code of conduct on election results day by meeting (now Chief Minister) Congress leader Revanth Reddy amidst counting of votes.

8. The Punjagutta police on Wednesday arrested Jagadish, who acted in the blockbuster movie Pushpa, for allegedly threatening and blackmailing a woman. The woman, later died by suicide due to the alleged harassment by the suspect.

On Wednesday, the police caught him and remanded him. Jagadish had played to role of Keshav in the movie Pushpa and rose to fame.

1. Ministry of Finance has informed that the total enrolment under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) has crossed 6 crore, with over 79 lakh enrolments in the current Financial Year.
