1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert warning for Central, Northeastern and Southern parts of the country for the next two days.

2. The Government issues operational guidelines for implementation of Model Solar Village under PM-Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana; One Model Village to be created in every district.

The Indian arm of South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor Company will establish a mega testing centre in Telangana, which will include a test track and a manufacturing facility to produce cars for tests, including electric vehicles. The company’s announcement came during the meeting of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu with senior Hyundai officials in Seoul on Monday.

10. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has hinted at the formulation of an industrial policy 2024-29 with a target to achieve a growth rate of 15 for Andhra Pradesh.

In Telangana, In a significant departure from the BRS government’s tradition, the Congress government is seriously contemplating replacing the Bathukamma festival saris scheme with silver coins or cash handouts this year. This marks a potential end to a scheme that has been a hallmark of the BRS government since 2017.

12. A special camp to retrieve official documents of the landslide survivors who lost everything was held on Monday in the disaster-hit regions of Wayanad, Kerala, where a search mission to locate missing people continued.

13. BJP’s alliance partners in Maharashtra – Ajit Pawar-led NCP and Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena – have raised concerns over the Waqf Board Bill. While NCP chief Ajit Pawar said that his party will not allow any injustice to Muslims, the Shinde-led Sena too has said Muslims should be taken into confidence on the waqf board issue.

14. Delhi Police Imposes Traffic Restriction Ahead Of Independence Day: No heavy transport vehicle (HTV) will be allowed to enter the city on Monday at 10 pm to Tuesday 12 pm and similarly from Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 12 pm.

Several traffic diversions were imposed on borders of the national capital from Monday in view of Independence Day celebration with heavy vehicles prohibited from entering the city.

15. Sex ratio in India is expected to improve to 952 women per 1000 men by 2036 from 943 in 2011, according to a report ‘Women and Men in India 2023’ released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation on Monday. By 2036, the population of India is expected to reach 152.2 crore, with a slightly improved female percentage of 48.8 percent compared to 48.5 percent in 2011.

4. All 11 accused arrested in connection with the July 2 Hathras stampede, which claimed 121 lives, appeared before a local court in Hathras on Monday. The accused, including two women, who are lodged in the Aligarh jail, joined the hearing virtually.

5. An army soldier was stripped and assaulted in police custody in Jaipur, Rajasthan minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said on Monday after he visited the Shipra Path police station where he rebuked the cops over the alleged incident and raised the matter with the director general of police. A sub-inspector and three constables have been shunted out and an inquiry has been ordered.

6. Resident doctors of government hospitals across the country went on an indefinite strike on Monday to protest the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, paralysing elective services including outpatient departments and non-emergency surgeries.

7. Supreme Court: Highways not parking space, reopen Shambhu border partially : The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the DGPs of Punjab and Haryana, along with the SSPs and DCs of Patiala and Ambala, to hold a meeting within one week for partial opening of the Shambhu border where farmers have been camping since February.

In Bihar, seven people lost their lives in a stampede at the Siddheshwar Nath temple in Jehanabad district. 16 others were injured in the tragic incident. Devotees had gathered at the temple to offer prayers in view of the fourth Monday of the holy month of Shravan.

1. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has refuted the allegations made by US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research of conflict of interest against its Chairperson and her Husband.

In a statement, the country’s stock market regulator emphasized that it has adequate internal mechanisms for addressing issues relating to conflict of interest, which include disclosure framework and provision for recusal. It also noted that relevant disclosures required in terms of holdings of securities and their transfers have been made by the Chairperson from time to time. It highlighted that the chairperson has also recused herself in matters involving potential conflicts of interest.

2. The war of words between US short-seller Hindenburg Research and market regulator Madhabi Puri-Buch has started to escalate.

(a) Puri-Buch and her husband came under fire because of the investment they made in a Mauritius offshore fund which also served as a vehicle for the money that Vinod Adani apparently routed via two Bermuda-based entities into the Indian equity market.

(b) A day after Puri-Buch rubbished Hindenburg’s accusation that the Sebi chairperson had links with the Adani group which compromised the impartiality of the market regulator’s investigations into allegations of stock price manipulation and financial shenanigans against the Indian conglomerate.

3. The Gross direct tax collections from April 1 to August 11 have increased by 23.99 percent over the same period of the previous year, reaching 8.13 lakh crore rupees.

4. Government Restores Diamond Imprest Licence for Gems and Jewellery Sector : The Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has reinstated the Diamond Imprest Licence, allowing duty-free imports of cut and polished diamonds up to 5% of exporters’ turnover.

1. The Indian Air Force has projected an “urgent requirement” for upgrading its MiG-29 fighter aircraft with new stand-off ground attack weapons and associated avionics and control systems that would enhance their operational capability.

Initially, 24 MiG-29 aircraft would be modified to carry the High Speed Low Drag (HSLD) Mark-II stand-off weapon, having a strike range of over 180 kilometers, that would require retrofitting additional hardware as well as software on the aircraft. The MiG-29 is primarily an air defence fighter.

2. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India has developed an advanced Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP) specifically designed for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) operations. This platform represents a significant advancement in India’s indigenous defence capabilities.

3. The anti-terror operation in the forest area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir entered the third day on Monday (August 12, 2024) as security forces widened the search area to flush out terrorists.

4. The Indian Navy has approved the state-owned Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) to build six submarines with the project worth ₹60,000 crore. The decision follows the completion of trials for submarines under Project 75 India.

India’s Future Plans For Advance Fighter Jets: TEJAS MK-2 By 2029, AMCA By 2035.India is making significant strides in its indigenous fighter aircraft program, focusing on two key projects: the TEJAS MK-2 and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). These developments are crucial for enhancing the capabilities of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
