1. An encounter broke out between militants and security forces at the Chakoora area of Shopian, Kashmir Zone Police on Wednesday.

2. The Punjab Police has registered a case against two unidentified men under the Arms Act for opening fire inside a military station in Bathinda. Empty shells and missing INSAS rifle were recovered. All entry gates to Army cantonment in Bathinda closed after firing.

3. Surat District & Sessions Court to hear Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on plea challenging his conviction in a defamation case related to his 2019 remark about surname Modi.

4. Yes Bank Founder Rana Kapoor was granted bail by a special PMLA court in Mumbai in a money laundering case pertaining to irregularities worth ₹900 crore in a loan given to HDIL. The court stated that further incarceration without a trial cannot be allowed.

5. Late Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar’s grandson on Wednesday approached a court here in Maharashtra with a criminal defamation complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accusing him of making false allegations against Savarkar during his address in London.

1. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday participated in a roundtable on ‘Multilateral Development Bank Evolution: Building Shareholder Consensus’ hosted by US Department of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen at World Bank headquarters on Wednesday.

The discussion was focused on the impact of global development challenges like climate change, pandemics, fragility and conflict on development progress.

2. Union Finance Ministry to hold a review of financial inclusion schemes with public sector banks including Mudra yojana & Stand Up India scheme in New Delhi.

3. RBI issued draft rules on penal charges related to loan accounts. RBI said the quantum of penal charges shall be proportional to the defaults/non-compliance of material terms and conditions of loan contracts beyond a threshold. Penal charges in case of loans sanctioned to individual borrowers, for purposes other than business, shall not be higher than that applicable to non-individual borrowers.

1. IAF & US Air Force to take part in phase 2 Exercise Cope India 2023 at Air Force Station Kalaikunda, West Bengal

2. Recently, defence ministry signed two contracts with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), worth over Rs 3,700 crore, to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force. The first contract, worth over Rs 2,800 crore, deals with the supply of Medium Power Radars (MPR) ‘Arudhra’ for the IAF. The second contract, at an overall cost of approximately Rs 950 crore, relates to ‘Radar Warning Receivers’ (RWR).

3. Chief of the Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan on Tuesday emphasised the need for building dual-use platforms with special focus on incorporating cutting-edge technology in boosting India’s military space capability and plans. He also put the spotlight on the possibility of war and the militarization of space and the development of weapons by different nations.

4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday called for the need to come up with new innovative methods in order to increase the value of money spent on the country’s security needs. Inaugurating the three-day International Conference on Defence Finance and Economics in the national capital the minister pointed out that the legal and procedural defence-finance framework is an integral part of a mature state system.
