1. The President Droupadi Murmu conferred upon National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024 to Nurses at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The National Florence Nightingale Award was instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the year 1973. This award is given as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals to the society.

2. The Cabinet has given nod to providing health coverage to all senior citizens above 70 years of age irrespective of income under Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana.

3. The Cabinet also approved PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement, PM E-DRIVE, Scheme with an outlay of 10,900 crore rupees over a period of two years.

4. The Government launches Trade Connect ePlatform to promote ease of international business for Indian entrepreneurs.

5. The Centre has approved the proposal of the Madhya Pradesh Government to buy soyabean at Minimum Support Price. Earlier, the government had allowed states like Maharashtra and Karnataka to purchase soybean at MSP.

State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, who is visiting Kutch, informed the media that out of the 16 suspected deaths, 11 have been caused by an unknown fever, while the remaining five are due to various other diseases.

11. In Nagaland, the State Government has approved the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Chumoukedima, Niuland, and Dimapur districts.

12. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated a special railway coach dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, New Delhi. The unique Railways coach is donated by the Ministry of Railways. The railway coach is enriched with sculptures depicting Gandhi’s travels and interactions with fellow travellers, providing visitors with an immersive experience that brings alive Mahatma Gandhi’s rail journeys.

13. The India Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh for the next 6 days. The IMD also forecast heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh from 14th to 16th September.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has launched a scathing critique of the madrasa education system in its submissions before the Supreme Court, asserting that these institutions violate children’s fundamental rights to education and are operating in breach of the constitutional mandates and the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

1. Recently 54th Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council meeting took place in New Delhi, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The council focused on adjusting tax rates for essential items, including health insurance, cancer drugs, and snacks.

2. The All India Union Bank Employees’ Association (AIUBEA) and the All India Union Bank Officers’ Federation (AIUBOF) have jointly called for a nationwide strike on 27 September 2024, following failed negotiations with bank management over long-standing demands. The strike, which will involve a significant portion of Union Bank’s workforce, is expected to severely disrupt banking services across the country.

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has levied fines on HDFC Bank and Axis Bank due to regulatory non-compliance. HDFC Bank has been fined ₹1.91 crore, while Axis Bank has received a ₹1 crore penalty. The penalties are imposed for violations of RBI directives related to deposit regulations, KYC norms, and agricultural loans.

4. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised its forecast for India’s GDP growth in FY2024-25 upward to 7%, a 20 basis point increase from the previous estimate of 6.8%.

1. Defence Ministry has given approval to the Indian Navy’s plans worth over ₹2,500 crore to build 100-ton unmanned underwater vessels.

2. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a public sector company, on Wednesday stated that it had received orders worth ₹1,155 crore in two different deals.

The defence manufacturer has received an order worth ₹850 crore from Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) to supply indigenous multi-function X-Band radar and orders worth ₹305 crore for a navigational complex system for ships, thermal imagers, communication equipment.

3. In Jammu and Kashmir, a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was injured when Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian posts in violation of a ceasefire agreement along the border in the wee hours yesterday.

4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Wednesday that the Centre has operationalised the 335-kilometre long 220-kilovolt Srinagar-Leh Electricity Line, also known as Srinagar-Leh Transmission System, to connect border areas of Ladakh to the National Grid.

5. An Indian Air Force contingent comprising MiG-29s, Jaguars and C-17s is ready to set course to participate in Exercise Eastern Bridge in Oman.This is the seventh edition of the exercise and is scheduled from September 11 to 22, 2024, at Air Force base Masirah, Oman.

The Indian Navy’s P8I aircraft, led by Commanding Officer Captain Ajay Kanwar, has reached Australia’s Darwin to participate in the 16th edition of Exercise Kakadu 2024.The Indian Navy will participate in the exercise alongside more than 30 nations with the theme of ‘Regional Cooperation through Trusted and Proven Partnerships.’
