1. Central Pollution Control Board has ordered the immediate shutdown of units 6 and 8 at Parli Thermal Power Station in Beed district. This action follows repeated violations including high PM emissions and illegal operation. The power station’s consent to operate expired in December 2024. Effluent and sewage disposal into drains were also noted.
2. The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday decided to permit the KSCA to hold IPL matches at the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here. Cricket matches have remained suspended at the stadium after celebrations marking Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) maiden IPL title win in June 2025 ended in tragedy, leaving 11 people dead and more than 30 injured in a stampede outside the venue.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Thursday clarified that reports suggesting that the investigation into the Air India Flight AI-171 accident has been finalised are incorrect and speculative. It said the investigation is still in progress and no final conclusions have been reached.
