2. Over one crore 9 lakh devotees yesterday took a holy dip in the Sangam ahead of the Maghi Purnima Snan today at the Mahakumbh, Prayagraj. Entire Prayagraj to become ‘no vehicle zone’ for Purnima snan.

3. Magha Purnima is an important day for Hindus that falls on the ‘purnima’ (full moon day) in the month of ‘Magha’. On this day Hindu devotees in thousands perform the ritualistic bath at the Triveni Sangam in Prayag. During this time the famous ‘Kumbha Mela’ and ‘Magha Mela’ is also held in which devotees flock from each and every corner of the country.

4. The government has said that over two crores thirty-five lakh property cards have been distributed across one lakh fifty-nine thousand villages under the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme so far.

5. In Mizoram, the stage is set for voting today to elect members of the village and local councils. Elections for 544 Village Councils and 111 Local Councils will be held in 9 districts, excluding Lawngtlai and Siaha districts, which come under the Autonomous District Council.

6. The UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme has reached a new milestone with the launch of its 5.5 version. This phase aims to improve regional air connectivity, particularly for remote areas, hilly regions, and islands.

7. The Government of India has announced amendments to the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damages Act (CLNDA) of 2010 and the Atomic Energy Act of 1962. This decision comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to Paris and Washington.

8. Aam Aadmi Party Convener Arvind Kejriwal yesterday held a meeting with Punjab MLAs in New Delhi. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other senior leaders of AAP attended the meeting.

1. The Punjab Police has booked eight travel agents on the complaints of the recent US deportees who are from Punjab and were defrauded by these agents on the false promise of illegal entry in the US.

2. A team of Mumbai Police visited the residence of YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as the BeerBiceps Guy, following the controversy surrounding his comments on comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’.

Multiple complaints have been filed against 31-year-old Allahbadia, who had apologised on Monday after massive backlash.

3. India has introduced new Harmonized System (HS) codes to facilitate the export of GI-recognized rice varieties like Red Rice, Black Rice, and Kalanamak Rice. This move aims to differentiate these premium varieties from general non-basmati rice, ensuring they are not affected by export restrictions.

1. Eight pilgrims returning from Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to Hyderabad were on Tuesday killed and another injured when the mini-bus in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding truck near Sihora in Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, two army soldiers werek killed in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion near the Laleali area in the Akhnoor sector in Jammu district.

The Reel Making Challenge at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 has received over 3,370 registrations from across India and 20 countries as of the 5th of this month. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a statement, said that this challenge provides a platform for digital creators to experiment, innovate, and push the boundaries of short-form content.

The World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which will be held from 1st May to 4th, 2025, at Jio World Convention Centre and Jio World Gardens in Mumbai. WAVES is a premier global platform fostering discussions, collaboration, and innovation in the Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry.

DEFENCE News

1. The third edition of the joint military EXERCISE CYCLONE between India and Egypt is being held at Mahajan Field Firing Range in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The exercise will continue until 23 February.

The Cyclone exercise is an annual event, held alternately in India and Egypt. The last edition of this exercise was held in Egypt in January last year. This exercise involves 25 members from each of the military contingents of both countries.

2. Thales and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) will provide a first supply of Laser Beam Riding MANPAD (LBRM) Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) Missiles and launchers to the Indian Ministry of Defence.

3. Adani Defence & Aerospace, in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), introduced India’s Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025 in Bangalore. The system, developed through a public-private partnership, is designed to enhance India’s defence capabilities against aerial threats, especially drones.
