Union Minister Parshotham Rupala inaugurates 16th Agricultural Science Congress in Kochi
Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshotham Rupala urged agricultural scientists and researchers to focus more on challenges posed by climatic changes, which affect agriculture the most. He was inaugurating the 16th Agricultural Science Congress in Kochi on Tuesday. He said agricultural scientists have played a major role in transforming the country from being an importer to an exporter of food grains.

1. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has said that India offers exciting opportunities for co-development and co-production in the defence manufacturing sector.

The BrahMos Missile Regiment of the Indian Army has test-fired a land-attack version of extended range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile (BrahMos ER) from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 10 October. It is an improved variant of baseline BrahMos. The estimated range of the extended variant is 72% (between 450 and 500 km).

3. India has initiated price negotiations with France for the acquisition of 26 Rafale-M fighter jets for the Indian Navy.

The deal includes the acquisition of 22 Rafale-M single-seater jets and four Rafale-B double-seater jets for training purposes. These aircraft will be deployed on the indigenously designed and developed aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

The deal is expected to cost the exchequer approximately 5.5 billion euros.
