1. The Supreme Court reserved its verdict on whether the absolute ban on firecrackers in the Delhi-NCR should be relaxed during Diwali to allow the use of green crackers.
2. The Supreme Court on Friday wondered how a single-judge bench of the Madras High Court could order a probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the September 27 stampede at actor Vijay’s rally in Karur, when a Division Bench in the HC’s Madurai Bench had already taken cognizance of the matter and refused prayer for a CBI probe.
3. The Madras High Court has directed the State Government to issue directions/circulars stating that appropriate disciplinary action against any officer who grants sanction for constructing public buildings/institutions on water bodies. The court said that action should be taken to recover the monetary loss that is caused to the State exchequer through such sanctions.
4. ABVP’s Osmania University unit demanded a reduction in TG SET exam fees, saying they are much higher than NET charges. The student group also sought rescheduling to avoid clash with NET dates.
5. THE GUJARAT High Court has held that persons claiming to be “victims” of religious conversion could also be booked for the said offence if they subsequently indulge in the act of “inducing other persons to convert.”

1. Sherry Singh made history by winning India’s first-ever Mrs Universe 2025 crown at the grand finale in Manila, Philippines, outshining 120 global delegates.
2. Renowned Punjabi actor and professional bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman passed away at the age of 41 after suffering a heart attack in a private hospital in Amritsar.
Ghuman, known as a “vegetarian bodybuilder”, was experiencing shoulder pain before his sudden demise, according to his nephew Amanjot Singh Ghuman.
He had featured in films like ‘Tiger 3’ alongside Salman Khan, as well as ‘Roar’, ‘Marjaavan’, and ‘Kabaddi Once Again’.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh co-chaired the maiden India-Australia Defence Industry Business Roundtable in Sydney with Australia’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Peter Khalil to advance industrial partnerships and capability development between the two nations. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities in defence technology, manufacturing and innovation particularly within the frameworks of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
2. Rolls-Royce on Thursday expressed its intent to collaborate with the Indian Navy in designing and deploying the country’s first electric warship, marking a significant step in India’s journey towards sustainable and future-ready naval power.
3. Indian naval ship Abhay and naval fast attack craft (INFAC) T-82 were decommissioned at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, after rendering more than three decades of service in the Indian Navy. The vessels were retired on October 6, 2025. INS Abhay, an anti-submarine corvette of Soviet Pauk II class type, was commissioned at Poti, Georgia, in the erstwhile USSR in March 1989.
4. The Indian Army has launched SAKSHAM, an indigenous Counter Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Grid, to modernize its air defence capabilities. Developed with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), SAKSHAM enhances situational awareness, detects, tracks, and neutralises enemy drones in real time, and integrates multiple sensors with AI-driven threat analysis.
