Indian Navy conducts mega exercise in Arabian Sea; two aircraft carriers, more than 35 combat jets involved.
The Indian Navy has carried out operations to integrate both its sea-going carriers – the INS Vikramaditya and the INS Vikrant—participating in an exercise in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Navy on Saturday described the exercise as a “coordinated deployment of more than 35 aircraft in the Arabian Sea
1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said the cyclonic storm “Biparjoy” is likely to intensify further into an “extremely severe cyclonic” storm during next 12 hours.

9. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will issue ‘pink tickets’ to women under the ‘Shakti scheme’ in Bengaluru on Sunday. He will board a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus from the Majestic bus station. The scheme will offer free travel to women in government buses in Karnataka.
10. Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has said that the state government will review the hijab ban decision taken by the previous government led by BJP. He also affirmed that the issue over halal meat ban will also be looked into.

Several people gathered at Hyderabad’s Nampally Exhibition grounds to receive a dose of the ‘Fish prasadam’ which was distributed after a gap of three years on Friday. ‘Fish prasadam’ is a herbal paste, which contains a live Murrel fish. People believe it has medicinal properties and can cure respiratory ailments.
12. No passenger or goods train will stop at the Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Odisha’s Balasore, where three trains met with an accident on June 2, till CBI completes its investigation. South Eastern Railway CPRO Aditya Kumar Chaudhary said. At least 288 people were killed in the accident.
13. CM of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to launch a Learn and Earn program that will equip young people with skills that are highly sought-after by employers. The program offers an incentive of Rs 8,000 to 10,000 allowance in addition to acquiring new skills.

1. Hundreds of artists staged a sit-in protest in Imphal demanding an amicable solution to restore normalcy in violence-hit Manipur.
2. BJP MLA Leishangthem Susindro Meitei has placed a drop box outside his house in Manipur’s East Imphal for people to drop arms and ammunition looted from police and armouries from across the state. “Feel free to do so,” a poster stated. Anyone coming to drop a weapon will reportedly neither be questioned nor will be asked to reveal his identity.
The internet ban was extended till June 15 in Manipur to prevent any disturbance in peace and public order. Ethnic violence broke out in the state on May 3.
3. A fire broke out at Kamla Market in Delhi on Saturday evening. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire has been brought under control.
4. The Karnataka High Court has confirmed the death sentence given to a man by a trial court for killing five members of his family in 2017. The man from Ballari suspected his wife of having an affair, following which he killed her, their three kids and his sister-in-law.
5. An illegal memorial of 18th-century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan was demolished in Maharashtra’s Dhule. This comes after several local right-wing organisations claimed that the memorial was built by Dhule MLA without required permission and approval from the authorities.
6. Ramachandran Vishwanathan, the CEO of Devas Multimedia, has been declared a fugitive economic offender by a special court in Bengaluru in a money laundering case. Vishwanathan and nine others are accused of diverting to US 85% of ₹579 crore, received by Devas as part of a satellite deal with ISRO in 2005. The government had terminated the deal in 2011.
7. Gujarat Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has busted an alleged terror module and arrested four people, including a foreign national, in Porbandar for their alleged connection with an international terrorist organisation, the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).

1. India tops in digital payments ranking with 89.5 mn transactions in 2022: India has emerged as the leading country in global digital payments ranking transactions in 2022. Brazil ranked second with 29.2 million transactions, followed by China.
2. India’s unemployment rate fell to 7.7% in May from 8.5% in the previous month, as per data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy.
3. TVS Motor (Singapore), a subsidiary of TVS Motor, has agreed to acquire an additional 25% stake in Swiss E-Mobility Group (Holding) (SEMG) based in Switzerland. After the acquisition, SEMG will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of TVS Motor (Singapore).

Contract for construction of 11 x Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge was concluded with Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane, a MSME, in consonance with “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives of the Government of India. First Barge of the series LSAM 15 (Yard 125) has been delivered to Indian Navy on 09 Jun 23.
4. Indian Army Joint Combing Operations Enter Day 4 In Manipur, 22 Weapons Recovered in 24 hours.
5. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Saturday recovered 3 kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur. The 168th battalion of CRPF also defused the IED on the spot.
6. Pakistan’s defence spending is now 1.7 % of its GDP, showing a decline compared to last year. The Pakistan government has proposed a roughly 16% increase in the defence budget as the country continues to face internal and external security challenges.
7. The 53rd Director General Level Border Co-ordination Conference between Border Security Force (BSF), India and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), will begin on Sunday, 11th June in Delhi. The meeting will conclude on 14th June with a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD).
