1. The Protection of Interests in Aircraft Objects Bill, 2025 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu introduced the Bill in the Upper House. The Bill aims to strengthen aircraft financing and leasing in the country.
2. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda asserted that the government is committed to eliminating Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) from the country by 2027.
Lymphatic filariasis (LF) is a disease caused by parasitic worms that are transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. It’s also known as elephantiasis.

2. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has rebranded its Hindustan Jet Trainer (HJT)-36 as ‘Yashas’. The unveiling took place at the Aero India 2025 event in Bangalore. The renaming follows major modifications to resolve departure characteristics and spin resistance throughout the aircraft envelope.The Yashas is designed for Stage-II pilot training, counter-insurgency operations, counter surface force operations and armament training.

HAL’s TEJAS MK-1A Showcases Aerial Prowess, Flies Past In ‘Finger Four’ Formation At The Inaugural Event of Aero India 2025 : The HAL TEJAS MK-1A is a 4.5 generation, single-engine, multirole light combat aircraft designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy. It is known for its versatility and adaptability in modern aerial warfare.
4. The United States is set to participate in Aero India 2025 in Bangalore, marking its 15th appearance at Asia’s premier aerospace and defence exhibition. Aero India 2025, is scheduled from February 10 to February 14.
The U.S. Partnership Pavilion at Aero India 2025 will feature 21 exhibitors from 9 U.S. states, highlighting the country’s commitment to strengthening aerospace and defence ties with India.
5. At Aero India 2025, Russia offered to sell India its R-37M long-range air-to-air guided missile, known as RVV-BD for export, along with the opportunity for local production. This move aims to significantly boost India’s aerial combat capabilities. The IAF’s Su-30MKIs are currently equipped with R-77 missiles, but the R-37M would extend the reach of the IAF, particularly for its Su-30MKI fleet.
